Sleepwalker Lyrics
Close your eyes
Feel the ocean where passion lies
Silently the senses
Abandon all defences
A place between sleep and awake
End of innocence, unending masquerade
That's where I'll wait for you
Hold me near you
So close I sear you
Seeing, believing
Dreaming, decieving
A place between sleep and awake
End of innocence, unending masquerade
That's where I'll wait for you
Sleepwalker seducing me
I dare to enter your ecstacy
Lay yourself now down to sleep
In my dreams you're mine to keep
(Sleepwalk with me...)
Sleepwalker seducing me...
Feel the ocean where passion lies
Silently the senses
Abandon all defences
End of innocence, unending masquerade
That's where I'll wait for you
So close I sear you
Seeing, believing
Dreaming, decieving
End of innocence, unending masquerade
That's where I'll wait for you
I dare to enter your ecstacy
Lay yourself now down to sleep
In my dreams you're mine to keep

Actually, there are a TON of references to the musical "Phantom of the Opera" in this song. "Silently the senses abandon all defenses" is a direct quote from the song "Music of the Night" from that musical. Unending Masquerade is a play on another song from the story...The feeling is that Christine is singing the words "I dare to enter your ecstasy" and the Phantom replies "In your dreams you're mine..." just like in the Song "Phantom of the Opera/Through the Mirror"
I fell in love with the song because of the Phantom of the Opera references.
I really think it's another one of the masterfully-written Tuomas songs about sex. There are a few there, definitely, but I like songs that have a sexual reference without being completely tasteless like a lot of modern songs are.
Uh...yes, I agree with the few who have actually noticed; there is Phantom of the Opera references in the song if anyone has ever seen the play. And when you think about it, (again if you have seen the play) it is more of a love song or sensual song. Has nothing to do with a slut. Jeez why does so many ppl have to take something so nice and turn it so negative...?
Once again, beautiful song
Sleepwalker, was the first song I heard by Nightwish, and to this day, its still my favourite.
I love to sing it. Opera and Metal, my two favourite styles blended into one.
It's based off that one chick who had sex with random men off the street when she sleepwalked. Nice little pun Tuomas did with this song.
Didn't they use this to apply for the Eurovision?
maybe you're thinking of STREETwalker? No idea, really, but..
Rhenna, you're right. I came to this site looking to see if I was the only one who saw the references, with direct lines from one song and a reference to another. Glad it wasn't just me going a bit phantom of the opera crazy.
I agree with rhenna and meirasanya on this one. I think that it definitely has something to do with Phantom of the Opera. We know that Nightwish do know (and possibly appreicate -crosses fingers-) the story, because they've done a cover of the title song.
I agree, It's about Phantom of The Opera, but i could also kinda see the slut part...
I originally just thought of it as a love song. i Suppose i was mistaken.
