Have you ever loved somebody so much that you're overwhelmed by it and thus push the other person away because you can't handle what you feel for them?

I think this songs has two sides of a meaning...one is that he wants her bacc because he regrets what he's done and...2...is someone who is still in love w/ and old lover...who cant seem to let go..and is asking for forgiveness...because they cant do it... Well, to me i think its #2 rite now...i love this song... i think its great...it gets me really emotional... :'( I wish i could let this pain pass, but it wont go away...i'm sorrie Grouch...i cant stop loving you...your my first, my last, my only...please forgive me...

I really think this song is amazing. I think he is in love with someone so much that he is saying forgive me if its like overwhelming, he only wants to be with this one person. the line that means the most to me is, "Still holdin' on, you're still the one First time our eyes met - same feelin' I get

For me, this song is about a man who is deeply in love with his girlfriend or a girl who he has a relationship with. It's not that he did anything to hurt her, its not that he left her, I think it just that he has never had a relationship that has meant this much. And this relationship is everything to him, it is his life, this girl, his girl is his life.

I think he hurts when he can't be with her/when she's gone ("this pain i'm going through"), every moment to him is amazing/something new/the most meaningful to him because he loves her so much ("still feels like our first night together"), and that no matter what, he is trying to tell her he will always be there and he will only ever want her.

He wants everything to be perfect for her. But because this type of relationship is new to him, he worries that maybe he will overwhelm her but no matter what, he cant stop loving her and he just wants her to know that, that he will always love her, he remembers every moment they've ever shared (and will never forget them), he wants them to always be together and he is just trying to tell her that "I'm sorry, I cant change the way I feel, it will never change, please, forgive me for loving you as much as I do"...

...Yeah... I know all may thoughts on this song are muddled and mixed and heard to read... I love this song... My fiance played it for me when we were at the coast one weekend and he sang it for me... It just has more meaning then almost any other song. I love it.

It is definitely one of those flashback songs which get us all thinking about that special someone, or simply desiring that special someone, For me, it gets me all nostalgic, since i keep relating it to a girl whom i know, who always has this sad look plastered on her face, just dreaming of the day i could go "So if your feeling lonely doonnnnnttt, your the only one, i ever waaannnnntt!" and she'll just fall into my arms..wow

This song has a double meaning and was purposely left for interpretation. This song means 1) This person made a bad mistake in the past, which has now made him realize that he wants and needs her even more than before, or 2) This person is apologizing to her because his love for her may overwhelm her at times so he is in advance apologizing for it, he doesn't want her to be overwhelmed, yet only wants her to realize that the love he has is true and that he would only be happy with her... I personally believe it is number 2, but like I said it can be left up to interpretation...Nonetheless it is an amazing song and always makes me think about my ex girlfriend Robin, I Love You...

This is one of the best love songs of all time. It always moves me to tears. To me, it means that he is just so head-over-heels in love with her and he's asking her to forgive him if he loves her too much, if it's overwhelming, too intense. I sometimes wonder if this intense passion exists much anymore?? Hmm. This would be an incredible song for a couple who've been together for so many years. Kind of like the song "you're still the one"

quite possibly the most beautiful song ever written .. a situation with a person in my life matches the lyrics perfectly as we are right now going through a difficult time. the "first time our eyes met", i fell in love with him, and I still get the same feeling even to this day. I will never forget our first kiss or any of our other firsts together. I love this man more than I have loved anyone or anything and the "one thing i'm sure of" is that I need him in my life. I think the song is about loving someone too much, and almost pushing them away. sometimes if this happens we need to stop and remind them that we are doing it uninentionally, and not to hurt or smother them..
