I might just be thinking this because of my own life/experience, but when I was listening to the lyrics it just clicked for me. I have a really tough depressing time in the winter (S.A.D; doctor diagnosed, Wikipedia it.) and to me it seems to be about the main character of the song, Ben I guess, trying to comfort a person in some way who struggles the cold, dark, grey, long yet short days of Winter. He wants to let that person not have to encounter Winter as the person being sung about has a hard time during that time of year.
this song is awesome. i love it. but i think the first line is "I'll find a cave for you" and also, the second verse should "If I could build for you, a magic retreat from." i'm pretty sure he doesn't sing about trees.

the last i heard they are still recording in studios. there is going to be 11 songs on it. it's going to be amazing!!!! i can't wait.. armor for sleep rocks my socks

When i talked to them in december they said the dc will be coming out in february.. but i saw them last week and ben said the cd will be coming out mid- to late April, it's going to be awesome.
As far as I know, it is coming out April 8th, day after my birthday, also the same day as my good friends Matchbook Romance's new EP comes out on Epitaph, so looks like I will be spending a lot of money that day. Its funny how noone ever puts the meaning of the song to them anymore. Anyway, the song is about the first day of winter, he said this at a show here which happend to be on the first day of winter(ben is so cute when hes clever). I guess this is where I say how awesome Armor for Sleep is, I don't think words can describe how much this band means to me. Everything has happend involving them. I played my first show in Jersey with them about a year ago, I booked them on a "special" day for them(the aforementioned first day of winter thing), I met the girl I felt real love for the first time because of them, and of course when that turned to heart break, they were there for me listen to. Also went to a concert with her to see them. It's scary really, but by far, they are my favorite band, and its impossible to say how awesome they really are. For people in the lower NY area, April 1st come to see them at Club Static(http://www.clubstaticny.com) in Monroe, NY a long with my wonderful band Postcard Memoirs (http://www.postcardmemoirs.cjb.net), should be a very fun show, also since Northstar is playing. I guess I've done enough rambling and self promoting now, I can go and cry in my dark room listening to AFS.
I think it's about someone that he wants to shield from all the impurities and letdowns the world can bring, but he knows he can't.
