a few weeks ago i was told that a friend of mine committed suicide. i was going nuts, and then i put on some music, it just happened to be this song. i got calmed down real fast. and i started thinking about the part "It's just that we're so small, and simply not as strong Strong like wings of silver, and feathers made of gold To carry heavy hearts, to cover all our helpless souls" and i remembered that God will always be there to help me through the crappy times, no matter what. and i felt better and now i dont cry every time i hear this song, i smile and think of my friend and his funny stupidness. thank you Stavesacre for singing songs like this one to help remind us that God will always care about us and 'carry heavy hearts' that we have. One of my friends called me one day telling me she was listening to this song and she just started to think of me and all the crap Ive been going though lately. I had never heared of this band before so when I got home I downloaded it and its such a nice song. I think its one of thoes songs that have multiple meanings, it just kinda depends how you interperate it to be. I am not a firm believer in God, but this song makes me want to be one!
this song picks me up when i am down, it reminds me that some one bigger than us is there protecting me, looking over me.
To me, this song speaks of someone loved very much heart falling away and rejecting God and following their own way ("I know where you're going, and that's the hardest part"). The second verse speaks of the immense burden felt for the person, to the point of "burning tears." The message of the song is that God is in control, sometimes we just have to let go and take refuge in His wings (Psalm 91:4). At the end of the song ("If it were mine to give I'd give you your own time") it is realized that there is a constraint on this life called time, and that God is waiting to "cover all our helpless souls."

Stavesacre is wonderful and their lyrics are amazing as well... Gold and Silver is a great song. All their lyrics have such depth to them.
i know what this song means to me, but i think it's more on a personal level then in the broad meaning of the lyrics. I think more broadly it just describes how we don't have control over our lives, God does and we need to follow the path God lays out for us no matter how difficult it may be. Thats just my opinion... hmmph
this is, by far, one of the most amazing songs that i have ever heard. it makes me cry every time. well, not every time, but almost every time that i hear it. beautiful. it has so much meaning to me just because of timing with deaths and such. stay a while, please, stay a while. beautiful. mark solomon you are a genius.
the lyrics aren't too bad but the whole song smacks of amateurism, whether it's the producer or band or maybe both I'm not sure....
There are times when we don't have the answer to problems. This song speaks to those times we need to find shelter from the burden of life.
