Too Much Of Not Enough Lyrics
She tripped on a hole that I'd dug in the soil
To be part of a human garden and I couldn't
Stand in the straight postured sun
But you stood in the mud which came unsoiled
When I came along
You see it's good for nothing, good for nothing
A close look at something
So close
It's too much of not enough
When all we need is just a taste
I strapped myself in for a safe saccharide
Before it started I tried to be anything I saw fit
And it all seemed to fit but you came undone
When I came along
Blind white lies and shallow truth
Broken strings and stolen youth
I've seen too much of not enough but
You came much closer than they had before
You never stop needing
And it's good for nothing
To be part of a human garden and I couldn't
Stand in the straight postured sun
But you stood in the mud which came unsoiled
When I came along
You see it's good for nothing, good for nothing
A close look at something
So close
It's too much of not enough
When all we need is just a taste
I strapped myself in for a safe saccharide
Before it started I tried to be anything I saw fit
And it all seemed to fit but you came undone
When I came along
Blind white lies and shallow truth
Broken strings and stolen youth
I've seen too much of not enough but
You came much closer than they had before
You never stop needing
And it's good for nothing

This is my favourite song of all time. My favourite line is "When all you need is just a taste" I relly really dig Silverchair with all their albums except for the first one but this is just so f###ing cool. Like Rubberdycku said, it's about causing others pain with his pain ;P
i think he wrote this about how depression can come along side with fame [when your young]..and how he helped natalie when she was depressed (if the story i heard was true..) or maybe about how he casued others pain with his pain...i don't know.. but this song is very good, daniel still has it
thats a pretty good theory. i also think "A close look at something So close It's too much of not enough" is him helping people close to him, and seeing their weaknesses.
Actually I heard that he wrote this song about Natile. I forget where I read it though.hmmm....
this is sometimes my favourtie song on the album, very much an underrated Silverchair song
IT ROCKS!!!
the ending is soooo good, really dreamlike, a great song for going to sleep to.
praps "and I couldn't /Stand in the straight postured sun" refers to his reluctancy to be in the public eye or investigated by the media and "the human garden", perhaps the moulding/manufacturing of celebrities by the media and teh record companies
I definately think it's about him and Natalie, what RubberDuckieYAY said was what I was thinking, how his lady help him with his life. I think that's what we all look for at some point in time. The end is my favorite part of this song!
