The Lever Lyrics
Turn the mirrors face the wall
Don't you feel a little weak?
And I'd catch you when you fall
But you're falling all the time
Do you need it anymore?
Or do you need a little more?
Living your life like you're bull in the trade
He doesn't know how it feels
Under my thumb like a bone under nail
She's in the know, how's it feel?
Live your life under machine guns
Canary down the mine
Maybe I'm on the lever
Spoiling my broth like a radio kid
Programmed computerised mind
Waving my luck under your nose
Like I found a four leaf clover
Don't you feel a little weak?
And I'd catch you when you fall
But you're falling all the time
Do you need it anymore?
Or do you need a little more?
He doesn't know how it feels
Under my thumb like a bone under nail
She's in the know, how's it feel?
Canary down the mine
Programmed computerised mind
Waving my luck under your nose
Like I found a four leaf clover

You know, they got a lot for Frogstomp. A lot. Thought it was pretty cool they performed on SNL at the ripe old age of 15.
I can't believe nobody's posted here. This song fawkin' rocks!! Anyways, I think it's about how technology has been spoiling society. We're really dependent on things like TV, computers, and the internet, especially. Please correct me if I'm wrong here.
i kinda agree. but, what's with the lever? i don't know, probably suggesting he's on a different level from the others?
this song kicks ass... it speaks for itself.
this song's... awesome. like all of their songs.. i love silverchair.. i am their biggest fan.. no doubt about it.. shove a pencil up your ass.
Definitely my favorite song on the album. I can't wait 'til the new one arrives. And for all you Aussies and Brits who think that America knows not of Silverchair, let me inform you: people are finally picking up. Their last album got a lot of attention and Daniel's work with The Dissociatives got them noticed too. So yes, America will soon give Silverchair the attention they deserve.
This is a pretty awesome song despite the fact I've only heard it on a silverchair concert on channel V (my diorama cd is scratched & old so 'Lever' only lasts for 1 second)
I've always kinda taken this as an extension on Spawn Again, i think it kinda has the same relevance to humanity being full of bastards and the like.
