In my opinion, this song is about a man who is in love with a woman. She is always ashamed of who she is.("blushing a cue for her falsities") She sounds like the type of person who doesn't really want to be loved, but this certain guy loves her, despite her mistakes and problems.

i think its about a guy taking advantage of a girl that feels as if she isn't worth a damn, after himself being through a relationship that was himself feeling like the not good enough

I believe it's about a girl who's obviously poison to fall in love with. She's false about who she is to everyone(blushing a cue for her falsities), her intentions are malicious and she can't be trusted. (flushes to me are the weeds to her) her true intentions are meaningless and throwaway like weeds We know who we are (in the song, the man who falls for her wants to believe he knows what him and her really are, not wanting to believe she is deceitful and poisonous).

Starving the love of the marvelous he's coming to grips with what she really is and that her love is not all it seems to be I was the penny to previous he realizes he is just one of many of her lovers she's scammed, just another of her foolish suitors.
