this House is like Russia
with eyes cold and grey
you got me moving in a circle
i dyed my hair red today

i just want a little passion
to hold me in the dark
i know i've got some magic
buried deep in my heart, yeah
but my priest says,
"You ain't savin' no souls."
My father says,
"You ain't makin' any money."
My doctor says,
"You just took it to the limit."
And here I stand
with this sword in my hand

you can say it one more time
what you don't like
let me hear it one more time
and have a seat while I
take to the sky

my heart is Like the ocean
it gets in the way
so close to touching freedom
then I hear the guards call my name
but my priest says,
"You ain't savin' no souls."
My father says,
"You ain't makin' any money."
My doctor says,
"You just took it to the limit."
And here I stand
with this sword in my hand

you can say it one more time
what you don't like
let me hear it one more time
and have a seat while I
take to the sky

if you don't like me just a little
why do you hang around
there she goes again
wearing those purple panties
there she goes again
wearing her heart
there she goes again
why do you
take it, take it, take it

General Commentthis song stands out to me as having many specific references to the cold war. im not sure what it could mean but here's what i think:

"this House is like Russia, with eyes cold and grey"- obviously about russia being the communist superpower in the cold war

"i dyed my hair red today"- another reference to communisim, red being commonly associated with communism

    "but my priest says,
    "You ain't savin' no souls."
    My father says,
    "You ain't makin' any money."
    My doctor says,
"You just took it to the limit."
    And here I stand
with this sword in my hand"

-possibly talking about people who are trying to tell her what to do and she is there, "with this sword in my hand" armed and prepared yet there is a sense that she has no purpose or direction and is confused as to what is right and wrong due to the things these people have been telling her

"and have a seat while I take to the sky"- this is obviously about the sky race during the cold war, russia put a satellite into space which had the potential to begin the nuclear war, this created an overwhelming sense of fear and anxiety with possability of world destruction.

"my heart is Like the ocean
    it gets in the way
    so close to touching freedom
then I hear the guards call my name"

-this could be about how in the beginning she talks anout the house being like russia and how she wants to escape it to freedom, referring to the usa with freedom from communism but when she is close to this freedom she is pulled back to fight ("i hear the guards call my name")

this could mean that the whole song is about a domestic fight, utalising references to the cold war to describe the two sides of the fight

i dont know if this is what other people thought but to me it makes sense :)
