this House is like Russia
with eyes cold and grey
you got me moving in a circle
i dyed my hair red today

i just want a little passion
to hold me in the dark
i know i've got some magic
buried deep in my heart, yeah
but my priest says,
"You ain't savin' no souls."
My father says,
"You ain't makin' any money."
My doctor says,
"You just took it to the limit."
And here I stand
with this sword in my hand

you can say it one more time
what you don't like
let me hear it one more time
and have a seat while I
take to the sky

my heart is Like the ocean
it gets in the way
so close to touching freedom
then I hear the guards call my name
but my priest says,
"You ain't savin' no souls."
My father says,
"You ain't makin' any money."
My doctor says,
"You just took it to the limit."
And here I stand
with this sword in my hand

you can say it one more time
what you don't like
let me hear it one more time
and have a seat while I
take to the sky

if you don't like me just a little
why do you hang around
there she goes again
wearing those purple panties
there she goes again
wearing her heart
there she goes again
why do you
take it, take it, take it

General CommentThis song is strength...it's determination. It's about realising your own beauty, even when you're reluctant to do so. It's about having wings...it's about doing whats Good For You.
The line -- "this house is like Russia with eyes cold & grey" seems to be about this western world -- where people never question, where people never look beyond the surface. A place where 'flying' is frowned upon -- a place where conformity rules.
"I just want a little passion to hold me in the dark" is poignant for me. I interpret the dark as a depression -- and doesn't want to leave the abyss. I suffer from clinical depression & at times it seems like you can only really Know when you're suicidal -- when you're questioning everything. For many people, depression can be like a higher level of consciousness, strange as it may sound. Tori doesn't want to lose that.
"and here i stand with this sword in my hand" For me, the sword is the words. I am an aspiring writer and at times, the words are the most important thing in my life. They can make me feel strong -- they're my weapon. I can fight the world if i've got words.
