(Keep Feeling) Fascination Lyrics

If it seems a little time is needed
Decisions to be made
The good advice of friends unheeded
The best of plans mislaid

Just looking for a new direction
In an old familiar way
The forming of a new connection
To study or to play

And so the conversation turned
Until the sun went down
And many fantasies were learned
On that day

Keep feeling fascination
Passion burning
Love so strong
Keep feeling fascination
Looking learning
Moving on

Well the truth may need some
Re-arranging
Stories to be told
And plain to see the facts are changing
No meaning left to hold

And so the conversation turned
Until the sun went down
And many fantasies were learned
On that day

And so the conversation turned
Until the sun went down
And many fantasies were learned
On that day

This song always puts me in mind of being in college, when my friends and I would sit up talking--sometimes all night--just about life, what things were about, where we were headed. To me, the refrain says never lose touch with that interest and excitement about life, always stay involved and open to new things.

I'm fairly certain this song is about swinging, sexually.

"Just looking for a new direction In an old familiar way The forming of a new connection To study or to play

Sounds like 2(or more) couples were talking, found they had a bit of a connection and started talking about their fantasies in a frank manner.

The "The forming of a new connection. To study or to play" sounds like you just found a connection and you might stay with them for a while(study) or maybe only have a one-night stand(play).

It seems pretty straight forward about that, especially when it talks about "passion burning, love so strong".

@eric106109 Yes! Exactly how I interpreted the lyrics, it definitely sounds like budding ethical non-monogamy. As soon as “fantasies” is mentioned, it seems like there’s a good chance we’re talking about sex here.

Or unicorns. Or sex with unicorns.

But seriously, I wish I could find an interview where they talk about inspiration for this one. I’ll have to research The Human League and see if they had or knew people with fun leanings. Glad it wasn’t just me that thought of some group sexy fun times.

I'd say this song is about learning someing new that interests you. You find it so intresting, that it effects you in, but in a good way. Great song to listen to. well-written music. And the vocals are hilarious, but not in a non-serious jokey way.

First and foremost, the song is meant to get you to move your ass. This is supposed to infect you and make you move a little. That's the catchiness. And even if your mind is not Fascinated with the lyrics, your body is quite Fascinated with the music.

I'm surprised at how forthright and bold the lyrics are. Not much subtlety. There are no allegories or metaphors. It means what it says and says what it means.

I chased after this song after hearing it in a Walgreens. That should tell you something there. At one time, The Human League was pretty advanced .. almost RADICAL English Synth Pop. It was pretty progressive. The reason I went after it was the DEVO sound to it. I was surprised that Devo could influence these people in England all the way from Akron, OH. But, it's pure Devo .. and not Whip It like most people know. The album tracks .. the deeper cuts. It sounds exactly like this. I always thought of Devo as punk and New Wave. It never occurred to me that they had a massive influence over synth pop, as well. But they did have INTENSE hooks and catchiness to almost all of their songs so .. those came from synthesizers and there you have the baby .. sired by the parent.

The lyrics are plain. They are what they are. Don't blow your fucking brains out. Get excited about being alive. It's not Floyd or Genesis.
