Mirror Man Lyrics
This appears to be a song about alter egos, and the way someone's personality can change to fit the people they are with, especially if they are starting a new relationship.
It sounds like it's describing how you may almost become a new person, or have this new alter-ego, depending on the relationship ("And if it seems I'm not the one you used to know Our little friendship left behind not long ago"), but he's not always sure if this is necessarily a good or bad thing, and perhaps thinks that he is a bit too receptive to other peoples ideals of what he should be ("You know I'll change If change is what you require"..).
This is not entirely within his control however, because the mirror-man ego keeps drawing him into other peoples expectations ("..Here comes the mirror man..")
Speculation about who was the titular 'Mirror Man' was ended in 1988 when, during interviews to promote the band's Greatest Hits album, Oakey revealed that it was about Adam Ant. Oakey had become concerned that Ant was starting to believe his own publicity, and was in danger of losing touch with reality. Oakey had avoided revealing this at the time for fear of offending the song's subject.

I think it's about a guy who wants to fit in so bad, and be well liked, so he tries to please other people and pretends he likes people, just so he can be "in" - although he really can't stand those people and it's against his real personality.
The band said it is about Adam Ant.
It's about a person's disdain for being a people pleaser. They are realizing that they (or maybe the other person) is codependent and regretting how they (or the other) lose(s) their identity when they're together. They are ashamed of going along all this time without speaking up, and now they don't even know their own identify because they lost it in someone else.
I think it's about a man who wishes to win the love of someone by mirroring their every interest while fulfilling their every wish. There is also a be a retrospection involved, as I think the author has realized he will never win that love and has moved on, this telling his object that their friendship may had been fake.
Seems to be about a guy that is high on himself and expect others - his ex-lover in particular - to be more like him in order to improve. If this guy were really a fan of others then he would try more to accept them as they are, so thinking of himself as a people fan is probably supposed to be a touch of irony. In the opening stanza the relationship appears to already have come to an end so the lyric could be going back in time as in progresses, reminiscing about recent events in a disjointed sort of way.
