Lonely Girl (feat. Linda Perry) Lyrics
I can remember
The very first time I cried
How I wiped my eyes
And buried the pain inside
All of my memories
Good and bad that's passed
Didn't even take the time to realize
Staring at the cracks in the walls
'Cause I'm waiting for it all to come to an end
Still I curl up right under the bed
'Cause it's takin' over my head
All over again
Do you even know who you are?
I guess I'm trying to find
A borrowed dream or a superstar?
I want to be a star
Is life good to you, or is it bad?
I can't tell anymore
Do you even know what you have?
Lying awake
Watching the sunlight
How the birds will sing
As I count the rings around my eyes
Constantly pushing
The world I know aside
I don't even feel the pain
I don't even want to try
I'm looking for a way to become
The person I dreamt up
When I was 16
Oh, nothing is ever enough
Ooh, baby it ain't enough
Or what it may seem
Do you even know who you are?
I'm still trying to find
A borrowed dream or a superstar?
Everybody wants to be
Is life good to you, or is it bad?
I can't tell anymore
Do you even know what you have?
No
Sorry girl
Tell a tale for me
'Cause I'm wondering
How you really feel
I'm a lonely girl
I'll tell a tale for you
'Cause I'm just trying to make
All my dreams come true
Do you even know who you are?
Oh yeah, yeah
A borrowed dream or a superstar?
Oh, I wanted to be a star
Is life good to you, or is it bad?
I can't tell, I can't tell anymore
Do you even know what you have?
I guess not, I guess not
Do you even know who you are?
I'm trying to find
A rising dream, or a falling star?
Oh, I have all these dreams
Is life good to you or is it bad?
I can't tell anymore
Do you even know what you have?
Oh, no, no
The very first time I cried
How I wiped my eyes
And buried the pain inside
All of my memories

This is a strange song because most of the first and second verse is very depressing and speaks about her loneliness and pain which she experiences. But then the chorus sounds slightly more optimistic and contains the lyrics:
A borrowed dream or a superstar? I want to be a star
So in a sense, it's sort of a song about following your dreams and escaping your misery.
I think it's a song about stepping up and taking control of your life. It sounds that way to me.
I really, really like this song. It's my second favorite on her Missundaztood album. I think this song is about her, too. And trying to "find" herself. Whatever that means. And finding out who she is, who she wants to be. Damn, she's a goooooood writer!
All of my memories Good and bad that's passed Didn't even take the time to realize
I love that part of the song is like how we dont let the things that hapen in our past go away, we keep them in our minds.
I cry when I hear this song, is the story of my life, I feel really lonely. I buried the pain inside and I'm waiting for it all to come to an end. I guess I'm not the only one feeling this way.
this song is hard for me to listen to since the lyrics hit a little too close to home but i still love it. the song was actually written by Linda Perry who as you all know sings in the chorus. anyway Linda wrote this song before she met P!nk but as soon as she got to know her she realised that this song was destined to be sung by P!ink. soo yeah thats the back story.p.s glad to see no haters here p.p.s im australian and the word haters isnt in our vocab. but i picked it up from these posts lol so yeah im learning some american slang!
I thin this song is about finding your dreams and going towards them. Its like yes everyone has memories of the past, and sometimes you'll be feeling down, but if you have something to work towards you'll be okay. However, if you just lie in bed waiting to die and wallowing in your own self pity, you will always be lonely. Most of the time, you have to overcome obstacles to become someone you can be proud of.
I know I'm years too late to comment but I don't care... I only just heard this song a few weeks.
It's funny... I didn't even really like this song when I first heard it... and now I can't stop listening. It's most played on my ipod now. I relate so much that it takes an effort not to cry everytime I hear it. Most people can interpret it to fit their own situation, for me it's trying to recover from depression and trying to get a grip on life, emphasis on trying...
this song is the kinda thing that happes to us all in our lives. I LOVE THEM ALL AND OF COURSE P!NK "As I count the rings around my eyes" i have those things maybe its stress well at lest pinks got what she's wanted in life i just don't know what way to turn with similar problem that pink had when she was growing up. love ya gal X X X X
