Onde Estás Lyrics
Nas horas do dia
Nas horas do dia
Espero a noite
Espero a noite
Nas horas do dia
Nas horas do dia
Espero a noite
Espero a noite
Vejo as ondas a passar pelo mar
Vejo as ondas a passar pelo mar
Mar Mar
Nas horas do dia
Nas horas do dia
Espero a noite
Espero a noite
Nas horas do dia
Nas horas do dia
Espero a noite
Espero a noite
Vejo estrelas gritar seu nome pelo ar
Vejo estrelas gritar seu nome pelo ar
Mar Mar
Nas horas do dia
Nas horas do dia
Fecho meus olhos
Fecho meus olhos
Vou pelos campos a perguntar onde estás
Vou pelos campos a perguntar onde estás
Donde estás
Donde estás
Donde estás...
Nas horas do dia
Espero a noite
Espero a noite
Nas horas do dia
Espero a noite
Espero a noite
Vejo as ondas a passar pelo mar
Nas horas do dia
Espero a noite
Espero a noite
Nas horas do dia
Espero a noite
Espero a noite
Vejo estrelas gritar seu nome pelo ar
Nas horas do dia
Fecho meus olhos
Fecho meus olhos
Vou pelos campos a perguntar onde estás
Donde estás

This song means EVERYTHING to me... just like every song she has... She makes me wanna fly and believe deeply in my dreams... She brings me hope when I don't have it... Thanx Nelly!
This song does the same for me. Its glorious.
I have NO idea what this song is about. But it's SO beautiful anyway. One of my favourite Nelly Furtado songs.
Well, there are one minor corrections that I would like to make to the posted lyrics, the last few lines should read: "Onde Estás" instead of "Donde", and she is actually saying "la" instead of "mar" over and over inbetween the verses. Other than that, from what I can understand of Portuguese, roughly translated into English:
The hours of the day, The hours of the day, I wait for the night, I wait for the night. (repeat)
I watch the waves pass over the ocean, I watch the waves pass over the ocean. *la....
The hours of the day, The hours of the day, I wait for the night, I wait for the night. (repeat)
I watch the stars cry out your name, I watch the stars cry out your name. *la...
The hours of the day, The hours of the day, I close my eyes, I close my eyes.
I go to the highlands to ask where you are, I go to the highlands to ask where you are.
Where are you? Where are you? Where are you? Where are you?
This song is unbelievably gorgeous. It makes me wanna take a holiday in Portugal and dance on the beach and cry at the same time. I love this song cause it's so unique and exotic and melancholic.
y is she speaking spanish? she's not hispanic...
Spanish is very very similar to portuguese. I can understand a good proportion of these lyrics only speaking Spanish.
She has sung songs in spanish before though (e.g. no hay igual, fotografía) so it's not absolutely impossible she could be singing in Spanish.
^yes, it can sometimes be similar to portuguese -- I think she speaks European portuguese, and she has sung songs in spanish, however, these lyrics are not in spanish. for example: ¿Dónde estás? ("Where are you?" --> spanish) ¿Onde estás? ("Where are you?" --> portuguese)
Las horas de día ("in the hours of the day" --> spanish) Nas horas do dia ("in the hours of the day" --> portuguese)
Espero a noche ("I wait for the night --> spanish) Espero a noite ("I expect/wait/? for the night --> portuguese)
what???? spanish??? are you kidding me?? she's speaking PORTUGUESE... jesus... get some culture! she's got portuguese family, from Açores (Azores)!
