A Loon Lyrics
A loon
Some store
I'm not going back there anymore
Wandered in
Don't think I'll do that again
No I don't think I'll do that again
I swear
Look at me cross-eyed and I don't know what to do
No I don't know what to do
Crazy loon
There's a room in his pallet
There's a pillow for his head
Sees an offshoot in his bottle
When he wants to see me dead
Heirlooms A loon
Never thought I'd see that silly grin
Never thought I'd see that fool again
Never thought I'd love that lunatic
Nothing left to dance around
What a hero
What a black and blue bird
What a loon, A loon
What a loon, A loon
I'm not going back there anymore
Wandered in
Don't think I'll do that again
No I don't think I'll do that again
Look at me cross-eyed and I don't know what to do
No I don't know what to do
Crazy loon
There's a pillow for his head
Sees an offshoot in his bottle
When he wants to see me dead
Heirlooms A loon
Never thought I'd see that silly grin
Never thought I'd see that fool again
Never thought I'd love that lunatic
What a hero
What a black and blue bird
What a loon, A loon
What a loon, A loon

my fav. kristin hersh song ever...
The "Strings" version off the ep is even better. I have no idea what it's about, other than Kristen being crazy, but I love it.
I've always assumed this is about a panic attack (or similar experience) in a public place, and the subsequent images going through your mind, almost as a comedown. Particularly well portrayed, as peak of the attack is often invisible to outsiders, and the images increasingly ridiculous, but confined to yourself.
My experience, anyway.
I have always thught thatthis song was about one of Kristin's sons, I really don't know why exactly.... but I also agree with the panic attack meaning...after reading back over the lyrics it does seem to make sense!
I never thought about the panic attack thing, but it makes a lot of sense and kind of reinforces what I always thought this song was about -- I always thought that it was about being out and about in a public place and everything that she sees reminding her of an ex-lover. Probably someone she parted with on not-so-good terms, but they were still involved in eachothers' lives due to other circumstances (perhaps an ex-husband who fathered a child maybe?) and it was driving her insane because she wanted to forget him, but everywhere she looks is another piece that reminds her. shrug Just my two cents.
