Q&A
June 18, 1976 Lyrics
You were born in KC, Missouri
To a girl who wasn't married
After your birth she brought you to the nursery
Kissed your head and told you not to worry
And then quietly she turned and slipped away
In the elevator her heart began to pound
To the rooftop, in her slippers, and her gown
On the edge, she took one last look around
Then closed her eyes and pushed away
Speeding toward the ground
Through the air without a sound
So gracefully
Twelve flights down, nearly naked on the ground
Skin and tragedy always attract a crowd
So it was when the policeman came around
He took more than fifty eyewitness accounts
Each one in awe, for they'd never seen a girl so sad and beautiful
Speeding toward the ground
Through the air without a sound
Speeding toward the ground
Through the air without a sound
So gracefully
To a girl who wasn't married
After your birth she brought you to the nursery
Kissed your head and told you not to worry
And then quietly she turned and slipped away
To the rooftop, in her slippers, and her gown
On the edge, she took one last look around
Then closed her eyes and pushed away
Through the air without a sound
So gracefully
Skin and tragedy always attract a crowd
So it was when the policeman came around
He took more than fifty eyewitness accounts
Each one in awe, for they'd never seen a girl so sad and beautiful
Through the air without a sound
Speeding toward the ground
Through the air without a sound
So gracefully

jesus loves us all... WORD
this has got to be one of the saddest song i have heard. its beautiful in it's pain
whoa. if you like this, you should try "tonite i will retire" by damien jurado
I never heard this song, but the lryics are very sad and depressing. and it's one of those songs you don't need to rack your brain thinking about what it means.
rivas is right. "tonight i will retire" is awesome/sad. like this.
I think this is definately one of PTL's best musically, lyrically, and emotionally. Top 5 easily.
Pedro the Lion is definitely one of the deepest lyric-composers that Ive ever heard, it makes me forget that theyre a religious band. This does not deserve to be categorized along with the crap that we call emo. This isnt emo, its real. (I for the record hate most emo music, mostly because its shallow and written by idiots in garages in suburbia. This reflects otherwise.)
i would like to extend a vist to the lyrics of magazine before anyone starts flaming on anything at all here. thank you.
ah! Goosebumps...
I know a girl who's sad and beautiful. It's quite a stunning combination.
A personal favourite at Pedro's live shows.
