Wow, I'm shocked at the number of comments asking what this song has to do with the year 1996. Kids, really?? Historical context:

Antichrist Superstar was released about a month before the 1996 presidential election in the US. The 1996 election was every bit as insane as the 2012 election with independently wealthy madman, Ross Perot, throwing his hat in the ring. (I watched all the damn debates live on TV.)

So you get this "rise of the Antichrist" theme through the whole album that culminates in the beginning with Irresponsible Hate Anthem, which was said to have been recorded live on February 14, 1997 - four months AFTER the album was released. Meaning recorded live in front of a crowd of the Antichrist Superstar's followers.

This song is kind of a reaction to the BS rhetoric that gets thrown around in a political campaign. It's the anti-this, anti-that taken to the level of complete absurdity. And then: Anti-people, now you've gone to far. Here's your Antichrist Superstar. Meaning you did this, you made me, you brought on the Apocalypse with your BS.

No! I wasn't bashing him :) I like his music very much!! When I said "Silly Isn't it?", I was talking about the notion of being anti-everything. I feel this song shows how the notion is silly, you can't be anti-everything, or you'll also be anti-you. "anti song and anti me I don't deserve a chance to be" This is an excellent song! BTW, anyone know where I can find info on the new album o_O ? :)

i pretty much agree to what every one else is saying. sarcasm and whatnot. i just wanted to say that theyr some fucking AMAZING lyrics and i really wish i could write like that.

This song is obviously about how he is correcting all of those who see him as the antichrist, by saying that he is anti-everything, even if it comes to a cotradiction.

is a golden example of this.

He shows that he is more than the antichrist, or in some peoples eyes, less.

This is the song about the disintegrator putting his plans for society in action, as he is now acting as a tyrant and he begins his revengance on the beautiful people.

The latent hatred that had built inside for the beautiful people is finally unleashed as their society had made of him a monster.

he's trying to say that people will call him an antichrist, and i think he's taking the piss a little bit
