The Siren Sings Lyrics
You were a castaway from New Orleans
Fought the world to find your dreams, oh yeah
Almost starved to death, cuz you had no money
Sold your soul for blood and honey, oh yeah
Cars crash and we collide as the siren sings the saddest song tonight
And this is it, how it all comes down
To the love you would leave the streets of your home town
At the edge of the rest of your life
At the end of a one way road
I was losing everything
And tonight may never shine
If you never open your eyes
I keep this heart right next to mine
I was a cast away from New Orleans
Fought the world to find my dreams, oh yeah
Your heart had to let me go
Now I'd rather die than ever be alone, oh yeah
At the edge of the rest of your life
At the end of a one way road
I was losing everything
And tonight may never shine
If you never open your eyes
I keep this heart right next to mine
At the edge of the rest of your life
At the end of a one way road
I was losing everything
And tonight may never shine
If you never open your eyes
I keep this heart right next to mine
At the edge of the rest of your life
At the end of a one way road
And tonight may never shine
If you never open your eyes
I keep this heart right next to mine
Fought the world to find your dreams, oh yeah
Almost starved to death, cuz you had no money
Sold your soul for blood and honey, oh yeah
Cars crash and we collide as the siren sings the saddest song tonight
And this is it, how it all comes down
To the love you would leave the streets of your home town
At the end of a one way road
I was losing everything
And tonight may never shine
If you never open your eyes
I keep this heart right next to mine
Fought the world to find my dreams, oh yeah
Your heart had to let me go
Now I'd rather die than ever be alone, oh yeah
At the end of a one way road
I was losing everything
And tonight may never shine
If you never open your eyes
I keep this heart right next to mine
At the end of a one way road
I was losing everything
And tonight may never shine
If you never open your eyes
I keep this heart right next to mine
At the edge of the rest of your life
At the end of a one way road
And tonight may never shine
If you never open your eyes
I keep this heart right next to mine

The meaning of this...I've always had two ideas of the meaning of this song. The obvious one would be just the thoughts going through your head just before you're going to die, concerning your life. Your thoughts?
justanother........ that;s a very good idea of this song, i really didnt think of it that way.
i think this song is about two people who meet and fall deeply in love but the girl feels lonly and she petends she somthing shes not hence"sold your soul for blood and honey" she wanted love.the guy on the other hand felt fine.one day they were in an accident and the song iis saying"at he edge of a one way road ,tonite may never shine if u never open ur eyes, ill keep this heart right next to mine"iits aying as long as their together, through life death ad time ittll be alright cause the love each other.thats wut is means to me
when i first saw the title of the song, i thought of the siren from greek mythology. this creature had the head of a woman & the body of a bird and enchanted sailors to wreck their ships on the dangerous rocks surrounding their island by singing beautifully. refer to homer's odessy for more on sirens.
to me, the lead singer is referring to a girl who broke his heart (your heart had to let me go). i don't necessarily see a car crash in the lyrical meaning, but more of a flee from reality (now i'd rather die than ever be alone).
it reminds me of the time i was first dumped. i hopped in my car & started driving just to ease my mind. anywayz, that's my whole take on this song.
me again... just wanted to clarify something: to me, the lead singer is relating the siren from greek mythology to the girl who broke his heart.
Hmm...my first post seems somewhat vague. Basically, the "cars crash and we collide" made me think of that exact thing. You've been in a huge collision, and now you're reflecting on life, and the person you loved throughout it all.
The first verse was from the person in the crash's perspective, and the second was from their love's, who will be alone now. I don't think it's a matter of breakup, I think it's just a matter of losing someone dear to you, and just learning to make the most of everything.
I always thought it was about a buy and his girlfriend who get into a car crash and as he's dying on the hospital bed he wishes that he won't die so he could be with her , but then he finds out that she dies and he wishes that he had too, "Your heart had to let me go. Now I'd rather die than ever be alone, oh yeah"
