yeah, i reckon you're all about right. i heard it was about johnny howard winning too many elections. good song

I'm sure it wasn't intended, but I'd been listening to this song for ages without having any idea what the actual chorus meant, but then it kinda clicked and it seems to be talking about the second coming of christ and how globalisation, consumerism and other modern evils has already buggered the world up beyond repair

i think its sort of like reading the future through history slowly people just become resources for the big brother like george orwells 1984 predicting the world being run as a total dictator ship people have no say government controls everything preety much like exactly whats happening in life at the moment government and media lying and shaping out conscious i think people understand what im getting at... as for the day you come part what id like to think or what i interpret anyway is maybe a religious aspect to the song.. im not religious but like the songs about government control and how we are slowly loosing independence and freedom and will become nothing one day and that maybe the return of christ is who he is speaking about on the day you come... rising up... maybe its a religious turn point.. sayin that the only hope is for a higher power to help us all because their is nothing to do and nothing we can do is going to change no one is going to rebel against the government their will never be a total rebellion people will keep doing as their told pay rediculous prices listen to their president./minister lie to their faces on tv etc etc.. and the only one that can change this or prevent 1984 is a christ like figure or maybe the guy himself.. who knows just what i think

Theday You Come is my fav Powderfinger song, i think you're all kinda on the right track. the song does seem to be about th stupidity of the masses and how easily they can be manipulated by oliticians and the media.

Its about rising up againt golibilastion

I think its more about trying to be an individual in a world of clones (A single voice complaining; The people’s choice is tested, So ignorance has won). This person has to rise up against those who threaten his or her individuality, be it government, health care, the media, or anything else.

I believe this song is also about the rise of Pauline Hanson in Australia. "The peoples choice is tested, so ignorance has won" refering to the infamous "Please Explain" many other lines, will get back to this if i ever get time
