Sunshower Lyrics

Dark as roses and fine as sand
I feel your healing and your sting again.
I hear you laughing, and my soul is saved.
On forgotten graves you cry.

Crawl like ivy up my spine
Through my nerves and into my eyes
Cuts like anguish or
Recollections of better days gone by

But it's alright
When you're all in pain
And you feel the rain come down.
Oh, it's alright
When you find your way
Then you see it disappear
Oh, it's alright

Though your garden's gray, I know all your graces someday will flower...in the sweet sunshower...in the sweet sunshower...

Eyes like oceans so far away
A feather trail to a better way
Worried mornings turn into days
And into worried nights

But it's alright-- When you're all in pain and you feel the rain come down. Oh, it's alright-- When you find your way, then you see it disappear. It's alright. Though your garden's gray, I know all your graces some day will flower...in the sweet sunshower.

Oh, in the sweet sunshower

In the sweet sunshower

I know all your graces
someday will flower
In that sweet
In the sweet sunshower

And it's alright--
All you'll be, you are today
Are today
It's alright
All you'll be you are today
Are today... are today... are today... are today...

this is a great, song, i dont think its his best but i will say its one of them. At least top 3. Chris cornell has such a distiguishable style he sounds so unique in his own little way and this song is the epitome of that style.

OK, this is about depression and living those old days when things were good, living in the past when times were better. It may be Cornell himself projecting the image of someone else, but it is in fact himself.

But he reflects, and realizes that sometimes we all need to cry to get through tough times. "On everyone's life, a little rain must fall". Chris makes this rain a sunshower to show that tears do not have to be a bad thing.

I've grown up to Chris Cornell, pretty much my entire life. I've loved this man since I could speak. Every song touches my heart in everyway. I lost my Dad four years ago, and Chris has worked wonders in helping me deal with all of that. This song touches my heart, and I hope it touches everyone elses as well. His voice is his own, and there will never be another Chris Cornell!

This song can take you in alI sorts of directions, but to me it's about taking the wrong road or no road at all to a specific direction in life, i.e. lost opportunities, ''I shoulda woulda coulda but I didn't and now I have to live with the consequences of my action/inaction.

''All you'll be you are today'' at the end of the song emphasizes the point that it's important to make the best choices in life, not the most convenient ones which will likely come back to haunt you later in life when its too late to change course.

And for the many of us who might not have taken the best courses in life who now feel a sense of loss and sorrow, open your eyes to the beauty that surrounds you, the little things that we take for granted. Take in the beautiful landscape, take a walk down to the lake or ocean side, visit a friend or family member you haven't seen in a long time, watch the sunset and yes, bathe yourself in a sweet sunshower.

This song, I think, is one of the most well written in a long time. The figurative language is phenomenal. I think this song is about Chris's significant other going through a tough time, maybe a death, or depression of some kind and him trying to comfort and them and give them hope.

-- The instrumentals of this climax part makes me feel euphoric, like I'm flying... It's so faithful and caring, and without urging to evade suffering, conveys that there's always room for us to grow, to ascend, that we can be strong and transcend grief or desperation.

The climax part makes me feel like I'm flying.. I think that we really need to suffer in life. Such an intense state makes me feel raw and alive, and having transcended grief and desperation is euphoric.
