most definately a feel good song...this guy's head over heels for this chick & she can't even see it...by the music itself, you wouldn't know this is a negative song...all i can say is great song...i love it

Everything in his life was fine without her and he KNEW that it would be fine without her, but he's done it again and fallen back in love with her. 'warnings of her thunder'...what's thunder mean? A storm's coming. He knew it would be bad, but he let it happen anyway.

"Serpent Satellite"
Keep in mind Collective Soul makes frequent religious references. The Serpent from the Old Testament was temptation and a "Satellite" defined by Merriam Webster is "1: a hired agent or obsequious follower : minion, sycophant". He is basically saying the individual is behaving in a sinful manner.
I'm not convinced this song is about relationships or even about a girl in particular. I find many of Collective Souls lyrics to relate to more esoteric philosophical or theological concepts. However they do seem to often illustrate this by an interaction between two people. Sort of the way Thomas Aquinas wrote, there is a name for it but I cannot recall it. It is where the author writes statements both by a proponent and an objector.

Who knows, but its awefully poetic. But I have a question, why is this song called "Why -Part Two"? What about the first part (I have it) and why is this the second part of it? The first song called Why, is about peace and stuff. Hmm. . . questions, questions that need answering.
I can relate to this song. I am 13 and I was completely into this one girl. I told her and she lead me on and on and only treated me like crap. Making me feel bad, ignoring me. I still worshipped the ground she walked on. And the day I am writing this, listening to the song, she just completely blew me off. She said she didn't like me anymore, or at all for that matter and I came to find all of my friends mad at me and on her side. I thought I had it going pretty good. I ignored the hints of this wasnt real and just kept getting more infatuated with her. A painful lesson...

Seems like person (say it's a guy) in the song is totally crazy about someone else, but she doesn't feel the same and just plays him around, hence the torture he feels and why she enjoys it so much. Now she's gone and he feels responsible, like he's the one to blame. He's finally letting it out, letting his "silence scream tonight" while she's probably off doing it to some other guy... at least that's the best I can make of roaming like a "serpent satellite". That's my take of it, I wish more people would comment on CS here, they have some great lyrics!
This song was named why pt. 2 because they wanted to name this song "why"also, but since they already had a song called why, they decided to call it why pt. 2.
