You Don't Belong Lyrics
bluetears I think i know some others...some aren't 100% though, but they'd be a good guess.
Heres my list:
- "Tom took his life in his mother's car": Tom Clements, from Give You Nothing, died in a car accident.
- "Milo went to college but you knew about that": Milo Aukerman from the Descendents, also "Milo goes to college" is the title of one of the Descendents albums.
- "Rodney played our record": Rodney "on the rock" show from local Southern California station KROQ who played Bad Religion fo the first time on the radio.
- "GG started riots": GG Allen obviously, he was one crazy guy so riots fits perfectly.
- "Laurie was always quiet, she was battlin' depression": This could possibly be Laurie Anderson, the only one alternative/punk music in the business I can think of with the name Laurie.
- "Jack wore a skirt but he knew how to scrap": Jack Grisha, singer for TSOL, he was known to wear a skirt on stage.
- "Billy went to county on a class one possession": Mr. Brett himself (as in No Control's Billy Gnosis) This was reference to when he was caught with ten balloons of heroin and was ordered by the court to go to rehab.
- "Wendy went to school while her daddy shot smack": Mr. Brett's daughter makes sense to this one.
- "Eugene kept a list": This one isn't known for sure, but my guess since Eugene isn't that common of a name is that it is supposed to be Eugene Reynolds of The Rezillos.
- "Mugger was security": Mugger was the roadie From Black Flag.
- "Mary she kept her purity": Mary Harron, news reporter/publisher, possibly sarcasm with the line here.
The only person I am still trying to figure out who she is, Is "Missy was a teen blue video star." Hope this helped
It's Tom CLEMENT...no S at the end and he crashed into the back of a car while in my grandmothers car coming home from his methadone treatments

Yes, I love the part that goes, "It's just that ones like us, will never belong" Everyone feel slike they don't belong sometimes. This song is great.
'we were different, just like all the other kids' true. being different is just being the same..
the names of people in the songs are people who bad religion really knew tom = tom clement ('along the way'/'give you nothing') milo = milo aukerman rodney = rodney from rodney on the rock (first guy to play br's records) jack = jack grisham billy = brett himself ('billy gnosis'/'billy')
anyone know any of the others?
Tom was my Uncle
Tom was my Uncle
This song captures the reality in teenagers lives. Every teenager that I know has felt like this at some point and the words the writer utilizes brings out the meaning in a way which makes them more real.
the only other one is missy was a teen blue video start.... well a 'blue movie' is a term for a porno, so im assuming missy was a teen porn star
well since i own at researching here's wat i found. theres one famous porn star named missy in particular. shes in the encyclopedia as the only porn star name missy. she lived in san fernando valley. it proly isnt a coincidence that greg graffin lived there too. the are only three years apart in age. i was so amused when i discovered the connection between the two -> the odds are they knew each other from school, where graffin was an outcast who discovered an underground punk radio station, inspiring him to form bad religion, and where "missy' was on of the popular girls at school. well there you have it. i own
Bluetears, the Tom in this song and "Give you nothing" is a different Tom than Tommy in "Along the way" The Tommy "Along the way" is refering to The Who's rock opera, Tommy. The last track on that album is "I'm Free". Also, this song was written by Greg who most likely didn't know Tom(He was Brett's friend, not Greg's), and Tom died in a car accident 2 years after "Along the way" was written.
Other than that you, chiefhky29 and opivy7898 are right about everyone.
interesting note, "You Don't Belong" is written on the back of some punk's shirt at a Bad Religion show in a photo on "How Could Hell Be Any Worse?" reissue...
Well, i don't know about the real lyrics, but in the lyrics i got with the original CD i bought, it says 'Jimmy started riots', not GG. Just sayin.
