This song is about someone not really comprehending how other people can act the way they do. Poeple are hypocrites and untrue to themselves as well as others, and these lyrics capture this idea perfectly!
It's a song asking why people lie to themself, or "betray their soul". It's telling people to be themself and stand up for what they believe in, else they "just might be the last to know". That's what i reckon n e way!
