Cool To Hate

Dude... this song couldn't be more satirical/sarcastic, i'm really glad you all hate everything, but dude, it points out in the beginning of the cd that if something sounds sarcastic, don't take it seriously, and at least a third of all offspring songs are satirical or sarcastic in some way. I think this whole song is totally pointing out the trend of people hating everything... "i'm only happy when I'm in my misery" dude, that's a pretty straight-forward oximoron, and this goes against all dexter's other songs if it wasn't satirical. He always is up to fighting for what you believe and making a differense, and this song would be about hating everything and not helping jack including yourself. So It's my opinion based on this that this song is just using overstatement to emphisize how people can get drawn into hating everything and slowly stopping enjoying anything.

This song is so awesome! I could be wrong, but I think that it's a satire on the teens in this day and age who think it's cool to hate everything (no offense BeanMcD), shown in lines like "Don't like nothing and I like that fine," and "Liking something's just a waste of time," and "I'm only happy when I'm in my misery."

Yeah BeanMcD this is my anthem too. Im considered a freak to disturbed child. Its just about hating everyone and thats what makes you happy. See when you hate someone you don't expect anything from them so you happy that way. I hate pretty much every thing they sing about. But I really hate anyone that thinks they are cool.

Actually... TacoGoodness described the line "i'm only happy when I'm in my misery" as an oxymoron, but it does make sense literally to me. I do agree the song is supposed to be ironic though.

Dexter believes in fighting for what you believe and making a difference? How is selling out and making shitting albums for the mainstream making a difference? Dexter, Noodles, Greg K and uh, i forget his name so I'm just going to call him Sparky, are a bunch of coporate brown nosers who cherish their money more than their fans.

Hey wrinkledPhole... if you're going to accuse a band of something, at least have your facts straight. The fact is, Offspring may have sold out, but there's no way in hell that they cherish money over their fans. If that was true, why would they have supported Napster and told their fans to download their album rather than buy it? Doesn't make sense, does it? Don't complain about something when you don't know anything about it.
