I Shall Believe Lyrics
Come to me now
And lay your hands over me
Even if it's a lie
Say it will be alright
And I shall believe
I'm broken in two
And I know you're on to me
That I only come home
When I'm so all alone
But I do believe
That not everything is gonna be the way
You think it ought to be
It seems like every time I try to make it right
It all comes down on me
Please say honestly you won't give up on me
And I shall believe
And I shall believe
Open the door
And show me your face tonight
I know it's true
No one heals me like you
And you hold the key
Never again
would I turn away from you
I'm so heavy tonight
But your love is alright
And I do believe
That not everything is gonna be the way
You think it ought to be
It seems like every time I try to make it right
It all comes down on me
Please say honestly
You won't give up on me
And I shall believe
I shall believe
And lay your hands over me
Even if it's a lie
Say it will be alright
And I shall believe
And I know you're on to me
That I only come home
When I'm so all alone
But I do believe
You think it ought to be
It seems like every time I try to make it right
It all comes down on me
Please say honestly you won't give up on me
And I shall believe
And I shall believe
And show me your face tonight
I know it's true
No one heals me like you
And you hold the key
would I turn away from you
I'm so heavy tonight
But your love is alright
And I do believe
You think it ought to be
It seems like every time I try to make it right
It all comes down on me
Please say honestly
You won't give up on me
And I shall believe
I shall believe

I have been in love with this song since hearing it on Roswell.
Any person can relate to this lyric:
"Please say honestly You won't give up on me"
I for one. And this song was given to me by a dear friend of mine, and it always reminds me of her.
Beautiful song.
I've never seen a TV episode playing this song, but since 1993 I'm regularly listening to this song, because the sound and the lyrics spend so much comfort in so many situations. It's one of the few songs in which someone tells you it will be alright, no matter what happened or what will happen. It has such a calming atmosphere from the very first to the very last second. That's what makes this song so special.
It's bad luck that Sheryl turned away from the music style she was producing in the 90ies. Tuesday's Night Music Club, Sheryl Crow and the Globe Sessions are so skin deep in comparison with her dummy Popsound, starting already on her LP C'mon C'mon C'mon. I miss her old sound so much - and I still hope that she will return to her origins...
hear hear... that episode was just painful to watch :( the song captured it all so well...
the first time I heard this song was when my teacher played it for us in my 7th grade religion class. so the first time I heard it, I was listening from a religious perspective.
this is a beautiful song, one of her finest. it's about finding hope and having someone to help you through a rough point in your life. it really means a lot to me.
I love this song! I heard it at the end of the Roswell episode "The End of the World" and thought it was very beautiful and very sad.
I hear these words...."even if it's a lie, say it will be alright and i shall believe" knowing it's over, but clinging to what you can't let go. desperately searching for anything of comfort. looking to false security for a moment of warmth. at least this is what i understand the song to mean...
i first heard this song when itw as played in the last episode of higher ground. its so sweet but so sad at the same time. its such a beautiful song and it reminds me of the way i feel sometimes.
This song is so beautiful. I'm not really a fan of Sheryl Crow, but I'm in love with this song. I first heard it on Roswell too! God, I miss that show! sniffle
It's impossible for me to pick a favorite Sheryl tune, but this one is definitely up there. I feel such a strong connection to it. I think it's essentially about finding something in your life to put a little faith in, whether it's another person, an idea, or whatever. The yearning in Sheryl's voice is amazing.
