Tinseltown Lyrics

Falling down, reaching out,
For someone to come down
Oblivious to all of us,
The child that grows inside
Seventeen without a care,
She's taking another ride
A sense of peace she's waving back,
To faces carved in stone
Tinsel town, here in tinsel town, It's pulled you down
Life in tinsel town, Overthrown, Relinquished all
Life breeds all around, A fun fair trip a carousel
She's trying to hang on, Here in Tinsel town
Life in tinsel town, It's pulled you down
Stuck in tinsel town, I think she might make it
She has the will to go on,
She's turning back pages as the world steps on
Here in tinsel town, Life in tinsel town
Its pulled you down, Stuck in tinsel town
Alone, Alone, Alone, So Alone, Here in Tinsel town
Life in tinsel town.

i totally agree with you i didn't think much of it at first but it grows on you and then you realise how meaningful it actually is-a beautiful tragic song.

I agree with the above two comments. Especially about the guitar parts. After hearing Radiohead's 'the bends', you appreciate this song a whole lot more.

With regards to the song, I get the feeling it's about someone feeling theyre surrounded by fakes (tinseltowns a nickname for hollywood) and that she feels alone.

"Tinsel town, here in tinsel town, It's pulled you down Life in tinsel town, Overthrown, Relinquished all Life breeds all around, A fun fair trip a carousel She's trying to hang on, Here in Tinsel town"

This line says to me that she thought living in this environment (not sure if its actually about hollywood or not) seemed like it was going to do her good at first, but obviously it didn't (a funfair trip, a carousel, she's trying to hold on).

To build more on that comment, she thought that wanting to stay young and live the life in tinseltown and she thought that she'd leave behind the fakes at home - (A sense of peace she's waving back, to faces carved in stone) but it turned out the people she met when she moved were the ones who were the fakes.
