Gentlemen Lyrics
Your attention, please
Now turn off the light
Your infection, please
I haven't got all night
Understand, do you understand?
Understand, I'm a gentleman
I stayed in too long
But she was the perfect fit
And we dragged it out so long this time
Started to make each other sick
But now I've got time for you
For you, you, you and me too
Well, come and get it, come and get it
'Cause I'm done
Understand, do you understand?
Understand, I'm a gentleman
I waited for the joke, it never did arrive
And words I thought I'd smoke
Let me in I'm cold
All messed up but nowhere to go
You got indecision, and indecision is my enemy
Unlock the cabinet, hey hey hey
I'll take whatever you got
Now I'm on it, now I'm on it
And you're done
I waited for the joke
It never did arrive
And words I thought I'd choke
I hardly recognize
Now turn off the light
Your infection, please
I haven't got all night
Understand, I'm a gentleman
But she was the perfect fit
And we dragged it out so long this time
Started to make each other sick
But now I've got time for you
For you, you, you and me too
Well, come and get it, come and get it
'Cause I'm done
Understand, I'm a gentleman
And words I thought I'd smoke
Let me in I'm cold
All messed up but nowhere to go
You got indecision, and indecision is my enemy
Unlock the cabinet, hey hey hey
I'll take whatever you got
Now I'm on it, now I'm on it
And you're done
It never did arrive
And words I thought I'd choke
I hardly recognize

classic song... My vote for the best album of the '90s.
I think this song is about calling yourself a gentleman, when you aren't and you're only fucking the women and leaving them, even being impatient
First verse is about his sex addiction. Second verse he has moved to drugs (the analogy of she was the perfect fit, we started to make each other sick) sounds like heroin addiction and him not wanting it. All the time he's trying to explain deep down despite all his vices and destructive behaviour, that he's actually a good guy. As if he's searching for that part, knows it's there but constantly is lured back by his vices.
amazing album, amazing song. Greg Dulli manages to pour all of his bile into his work. He has said the album title is a reference to public restrooms and the dark secrets they tend to hide.
awesome CD a must own for rock fans, classic sh..it. now on to what the song means...
a promiscuous guy on drugs
