Dusted Lyrics

Baby's playing dead in cellar.
Gave her water just got paler.
Grass stains, backburns, she's a screamer.
She's just dusted, leave her.
If you see her, don't upset her.
Never seems to get much better.
Grass stains, backburns, she's a screamer.
She's just dusted leave her.
Mmm mmm, goes to your heart.
Mmm mmm, sticks in your head.
Mmm mmm mmm mmm, yeah.
Baby's playing dead in cellar.
Gave her water, she got paler.
Grass stains, backburns, she's a screamer.
She's just dusted, leave her.

I recall Tanya saying this was about rape.

@danbailey80 Absolutely love the song but never have made much sense of the lyrics, even though I find the lyrics compelling. When you say it's about rape, I can see that in the lyrics, and it makes the song a bit less joyful to listen to. Typical for her lyrics, they are rather obscure and seem more image-driven than decipherable, at least to me.

Not sure what the reference to dust is. Cocaine? Angel Dust (PCP)? Or the dust of the sandman? To me, I thought it was about someone hooked on drugs and depressed. There's no hope of helping her. Or maybe "she" is the drugs... Don't get involved with her. She's a waste of time... Leave her.

@descendent I always assumed this was about drug abuse. The question in my mind being: Is the person just "playing" dead in the cellar? Or passed out in drugged delirium?

Or is it implying that they are actually dead, and that the singer is in denial about that fact?
