ok first the lyrics given are a bit off my first time hearing it before seeing lyrics i agreed with the "for your safety", but after seeing the lyrics and the hearing the song you'll see that its' really "for your sake dear" and it's also "last time round fast"
as for the meaning.. well in my opinion it's got a 2 1st the more obvious one of having to move away from someone the 2nd to me is that this is stroke 9 saying there not gonna sell out..they can't leave their roots(california)
i also thought it was "propose the worst, and I'm (instead of all) the first in line", but I could be wrong... I put my RIO CD jacket in a time capsule.

Great song. I figure it's just about loving someone but having to move on, despite not wanting to.
to me it seems like he wants to be with someone special but he cant because to be with them he would have to leave his first love behind, california.
