Our frank and open
Deep conversations
They get me nowhere
They bring me down, so
Give it a rest, won't you?
Give me a cigarette
God give me patience
Just no more conversation
Oh, give us a drink
And make it quick
Or else I'm gonna be sick
Sick all over
Your frankly vulgar
Red pullover
Now see how the colours blend?
Our frank and open
Deep conversations
They get me nowhere
They just bring me down, so
Give it a rest, won't you?
Now will you just give over?
The world may be ending
But look, I'm only human
So, give us a drink
And make it quick
Or else I'm gonna be sick
All over
Your frankly vulgar
Red pullover
Now see how the two colours blend, my friend?
Won't somebody help?
Won't somebody stop me
From thinking?
From thinking all the time
About everything?
Oh, somebody
From thinking all the time
So deeply, so bleakly
So bleakly all the time
About everything?
(Who I am, how I ever got here)
Somebody stop me
From thinking
From thinking all the time
So bleakly, so bleakly
So bleakly all the time
Deep conversations
They get me nowhere
They bring me down, so
Give it a rest, won't you?
God give me patience
Just no more conversation
And make it quick
Or else I'm gonna be sick
Sick all over
Your frankly vulgar
Red pullover
Now see how the colours blend?
Deep conversations

But look, I'm only human

Or else I'm gonna be sick

I have to agree that he's talking to himself. I think that I can see why Kill Uncle was so badly received, but coincidentially, this is the song I am most able to recognize myself in. From the chorus of the end, it's obvious (to me) that he's feeling despair at NEVER BEING ABLE TO STOP THINKING about "deep and meaningful" things, that don't help him, and don't seem to mean anything either...
Well it is about himself he explains it here:

I'd like to point out this was Morrissey's 'cryptic' way of announcing the views which now people harangue him for, ie: racism
I'm really into big Ideas but sometime I wish people would stop trying to be so insightful when they really have no idea why things are done, or why things happen, or why people feel the way they do, it wears me out. I love this song.
Then Endless Mike, this song is about you, frankly.

hmm...I don't think he's talking to himself. I think the whole "someone please stop me etc" lines are him asking himself to stop judging and thinking so much about the people he's with. I can relate to that. The song is hilarious though...I don't know why Kill Uncle is still so badly received...there are quite a few great songs in there.
to me this song is about people who don't want to think and have any kind of meaningful conversations. they'd rather get drunk and smoke (until the colours blend ;-) and not hear about any kind of serious issues. (the world my be ending but I'm only human). sarcastic, funny and brilliant!
some people here say they think it's moz talking to himself, well it can't be autobiographical, really, since he doesn't smoke and likes deep conversations but dislikes shallow people who have nothing to say.
maybe it's just simply the overthinker's common lament - somebody stop me from over analyzing everything yet again. have many cigarettes have been burned, how many ice-dilluted drinks have been quaffed after hours spent discussing everything and nothing. and as is always the norm, the conversations usually end up revolving around the bleakest problems that ultimately we figure out can't be solved. and so that all that comes from them are nicotine and alcohol-induced hangovers. if this isn't modus operandi Moz I don't know what is - especially from an over-30 post adolcescent poser :)
So, give us a drink And make it quick Or else I'm gonna be sick
I always enjoyed this part, interpreting it simply as the irony that its drinking that makes you sick, not 'not drinking'. A little poke at mindless alcoholics I thought which sits well with the overall interpretations offered by others on here.
@parkster It's because drinking makes you relax and stop thinking so deeply all the time. So his play on words is that he needs a drink otherwise he'll be sick from over-thinking so deeply all the time.

Your frankly vulgar Red pullover Now see how the two colors blend, my friend ***
I always thought the "colors blend" part was referring to being sick, because he'd just been talking about being sick "all over" and then he is offended by the "frankly vulgar" red pullover causing him to throw up. I imagine Morrissey is actually the one wearing the red pullover, some sort of nerdy jumper.
But now I realise its "two colors" so now I'm not so sure. Is it mixing two drinks together? Is a two tone coloured red pullover?
@parkster I take it to be (literally) the colour of the pullover and the sick blending together. I also take it to mean different types of people - the people talking deeply all the time, and those who are not so intense about everything. I think Morrissey is saying sometimes it's refreshing not to be deep and meaningful all the time and you can be relaxed and flippant from time to time and it's fine.

Well he speaks about this song in the interview on youtube called: Morrissey : WDRE Radio Interview (1991) (search for it).
Although to be honest the lyrics say it all.....
Our frank and open Deep conversations They get me nowhere They bring me down, so Give it a rest, won't you? Give me a cigarette God give me patience Just no more conversation
There's not too much to interpret he doesn't want to have deep and meaningful conversations, when they bring him down and there's no way to solve the ending of the world. He also wants to lighten up a bit and stop thinking so deeply all the time and be more careless; give me a cigarette and a drink. He's hoping they'll relax him so he can enjoy life and not mull over deeply depressing topics.
There's no frank the title is a pun. The 2 colours are the pulloever and the sick mixing together.
