the sky has lost its color
the sun has turned to grey
at least that's how it feels to me
whenever you're away

i crawl up in a corner
as i watch the minutes pass
each one brings me closer to
the time when you'll be back
you're comin back

i can't take the distance
i can't take the miles
i can't take the time until the next time i see you smile
i can't take the distance
and i'm not ashamed
that i can't take a breath without seeing your name

but i can't breathe a hurricane
and still be standing tall
when all the dust has settled down
but i can't take the distance

i still believe in feelings
but sometimes i feel too much
i make believe you're close to me
but it ain't close enough
not nearly close enough

i can't take the distance
i can't take the miles
i can't take the time until the next time i see you smile
i can't take the distance
and i'm not ashamed
that i can't take a breath without seeing your name

but i can't breathe a hurricane and
still be standing tall
when all the dust has settled down

i can't take the distance
i can't take the miles
i can't take the time until the next time i see you smile
i can't take the distance
and i'm not ashamed
that i can't take a breath without seeing your name
and i can't take the distance
the distance

This is a great song about a long distance relationship. I've definetly felt this way... you can't take the distance. Loving someone so much, but this distance almost makes you feel like you're being torn apart from somebody. your world that once revolved around being with that person only has memories and the phone to keep you together with that person and sometimes thats just not good enough.

This song to me really hits home. It reminds me about my b/f and how we are forced to have distance between us. It's the hardest thing in the world to be away from someone you care so much for. This song seems to know just how hard it is. It's a great song that makes me tear up everytime!

Okay this song is really good. It really hits close to home with me and the one person who I love more than anything. Except that person live 2 states away, 539 miles, and 9 and a half hours. So its rough, but are love is still strong. I love you corey!

this song means so much. my fiancee left 3 days ago for basic training in san antonio, TX and i can't begin to describe the pain i feel in my heart. I can't have contact with him, only letters and it sucks. i would never wish this on anyone. but this song helps me, because it describes the way i feel. *I crawl up in the corner As I watch the minutes pass Each one brings me closer to The time when you'll be back You're coming back This part is so true!
    I love you Brian.

This song always makes me sad. I remeinds me of when I went off for a week, leaving my boyfriend. I listened to this song all week, and I missed him so much! Well, I came back, and he dumped me for a girl from Scotland who was leaving in 2 days! I couldn't believe how much I gave to him and how little I meant to him. Sometimes I do feel to much. Jake, you're scum.

this song is me and my very close friend's song. he doesnt know it, but ever since the first time i heard this song back in november of 2001, it has reminded me of him. still today, i can put it on and be taken back to the very first time i heard it. it perfectly describes everything i feel towards him. i just wish he didn't have to be away so often. hopefully this year he will be closer to home. being a professional athlete doesn't give you a lot of time to be home. :(

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
