Belsen Was A Gas Lyrics

Belsen was a gas, I heard the other day
In the open graves where the Jews all lay
Life is fun and I wish you were here
They wrote on postcards to those held dear
Oh dear

Sergeant majors on the march
Wash the bodies in the starch
See them all die one by one
Guess whos dead, guess whos glad
So glad

Belsen was a gas, I heard the other day
In the open graves where the Jews all lay
Life is fun and I wish you were here
They wrote on postcards to those held dear
Oh dear

Be a man

Be a man, kill someone kill yourself
Be a man, be someone kill someone
Be a man kill yourself

The Sex pistols are one of the greatest bands ever.

This song is not a racist song, the sex pistols only fucked around with swastikas to piss people off and make them take notice.

Martin Bormann was one of the top ranking officials within Adolf Hitlers inner circle, and the person credited for giving the go-ahead to the so called "final solution" which basically stated that deportation of the Jews was not enough, and that they needed to be wiped out. This song is talking about how, while the official line is that Boorman killed himself many people believe he faked his death, in order to escape facing trial for war crimes. It ends by asking what the Jews would do to him if they got their hands on him.

I think its fucking dumb when people label a band before finding out the facts, which is the same thing that happened to Slayer, with the song "Angel of Death", about Mengel.

@quiffporn this song is COMPLETELY racist - I think it's probably one of their best tunes, too - I could be wrong [I could be right]

From a fan of The Clash and pre-Load Metallica:

masterofpuppets, you're a jackass. Just cos you're allowed to post stupid opinions doesn't mean you should. I look forward to being insulted by you in the near future.

alexk, you're an even bigger jackass. Please stop talking. Here's something to keep in mind: Ranting = Good Babbling Like A Cunt = Bad. And stupid too. The Clash were way better than the pistols, who turned to shit after one fantastic album. At least Metallica released 2 great albums and a few good ones before they went to shit.

Nice comments, quiffporn.

@shadowwiththeeyes I have to agree with you about everything you said. But I have to add that The Clash were great until Jones left them. It's also a shame the Levene was thrown out of the band (but that allowed him to be in PiL). Metallica are STILL fantastic (even though they stopped being Thrash a while ago). But this is all personal interpretation, as anything in life ultimately becomes. Stay strong and well

Listening to other Sex Pistols songs,I would have to say this song is satirical.Considering Sid Vicious wrote this song and Nancy was JEWISH,I don't think he meant it in the way people are taking it as.

@AstroZombie777 he hated nancy for being jewish so much he killed her

they weren't for hate rock...idiot. i don't particulary like this song...and it was written by sid, not the pistols. but whatever.

@pinkiscooldammit You're correct in stating it was written by Sid. But did you know, and here's the 'weird' bit, that it was co-written by his Jewish girlfriend Nancy, as well

Waitwaitwait, masteroffuckheads, you hate 'this fuckinghate rock bullshit' but you go around reccomending that people listen to Mayhem? DIDN'T THEY BURN CHURCHES AND SHOOT PEOPLE?!!? Did Hellhammer eat YOUR brains too?

The pistosl should've given it up after Never Mind the Bollocks. Pretty much everything they wrote after that was shit.

@shadowwiththeeyes So true. Good to know there's a likeminded person out there

ChemicalLondon is correct. The line "Kill a man, be a man, kill a man... " gives it away as poking fun at people who believe that violence and prejudice proves a point. I can understand however that many people don't like sarcasm or satire in song, but there is obviously no hate message here.

@Zero As A Limit The only people that don't like sarcasm as humour are those that haven't got that part of humour in their nature. I've always found that it's as simple as that, and you can't bother defending it with them, because they're extremely indignant that you're the one with the 'sick' attitude. You just can't win

Vicious please bring a feasible argument to the table before you just run your mouth all over the place, no one wants to hear it.

@JoE][BoXeR go get a ouija board then

Guys, I feel sorry for this guy Masterofpuppets80, he seems to be very angry. But maybe thats because he is so stupid after all, maybe he ought to read a little about Sid Vicious. Sid Vicious wrote this song to piss people of, just like he wore a swastika and all the other things he did. Obviously he succeded pretty well Masterofpuppets80 :) cos you are one of those guys who just can't appreciate some good old "make me mad, I want to break a window just for the heck of it"-music, which Sex Pistols whole idea was. And it's a shame you can't feel that way, cos it's one of the greatest feelings there is, you feel powerfull and stong, but you stick with your metallica and other bad music and Boss Man, Nancy got killed by Sid Vicious, and thats why Sid Vicious killed himself later on

@jabe05 In a very real way, you're view on the song is correct: it's very dark humour - with a strong anti-violence message. You can't try to tell people this if they haven't got the nouse to see it. The other thing you mention is that the Pistols whole purpose was to annoy and aggravate. That was a minor, inconsequential part of the thing, but as a longtime fan, I picked up immediately on their inherent humour. I think that was their much overlooked (and entirely missed) strong suit. It's sarcastic/dark humour, but humour nonetheless. Americans would never pick up...

Ever heard of the sarcasm? I think Sid's intention was to provoke dumb people, who can't understand it. Not pointing to anyone, it's just my oppinion. Totaly agree with Zero As A Limit.
