You Can't Quit Me Baby Lyrics
It's a mistake, but who knows
Followed you home, crawled in your window
This life is a trip when you're psycho in love
And I know
Followed your friends, you were not there
Slashed and I cut, I bled in the sink
Heard what you said and you're laughing baby
Slashed and I cut, and I do it for you
I want you to notice when I'm not around
Wherever you are
You're solid gold
I'll see you in hell
Followed you home, crawled in your window
This life is a trip when you're psycho in love
And I know
Slashed and I cut, I bled in the sink
Heard what you said and you're laughing baby
Slashed and I cut, and I do it for you
I want you to notice when I'm not around
Wherever you are
I'll see you in hell

Fuckin awesome song, I can relate to it so well right now.
First off, yes it's about love. It's about being so madly in love with someone you begin to obsess over them, and can't stop thinking about them. I think all the lines are metaphors to show how much he's obsessing over this girl. I don't really think he crawled through a window, or cut his wrists in her sink.
My favourite line in the song, and in any song.
"You're solid gold, I'll see you in hell"
Brilliant. I don't think he kills himself though. "You're solid gold", means she's perfect. She's beautiful and all the works. "I'll see you in hell" could just be his way of telling her to fuck off since she doesn't love him.
Another brilliant line is "Life is a trip when you're psycho in love" because it's so damn true.
Well that's my interpretation.

I would say pretty spot on. I have been with the love of my life for the last two and a half years. I've only been with two women ever in my life, intimately. It's not that I couldn't have had more women, I just refuse to lay with any woman I am not willing to love and devote myself to.

Well she cheated on me with three dudes from her job. But because of her very troubled life and upbringing (and I'm talking some seriously fucked up shit), I can't stop loving her, thinking about her, obsessing over...

The one thing I found wrong in your interpretation is the "i'll see you in hell verse".
He really will see her in hell, not because he is also there, on the contrary. He is looking from above, down at her, and sending her a message of love still yet.
I think you guys are close, but not not 100% on the money here. Ive overanalyzed this song im sure, since it was my favorite for quite a long time- but here's my take on it all:
He's clearly stalking this girl he's obsessed with. She doesnt love him back, and might even be making fun of him (...heard what you said and you're laughing baby...). He cuts himself as a form of emotional release/self mutilation and all. The "see you in hell" part, i think, is because SHE dies- and he killed her. He's saying he'll see her in hell when he finally dies. The clincher for me on this idea of him murdering her is how the last solo trails off and then builds up and gets faster and faster... thats when he goes off on her and kills her in a moment of chaotic insanity.
At least thats my take on it.
the best song ever!!!!!!
"i want you to notice when im not around" is from Radiohead's "creep" also a nod to led zep (their song = i cant quit you baby")
it's about an ex presumably, and is "about how love falls apart" (nick)
I agree with many of the comments, but the way I see it, the song ends with death. The guitar parts are arranged so that the lead riffs spiral into disarray... SO... the way I see it, after he cuts his wrists, the guitars symbolize his consciousness and/or failing strength, so as he slowly dies they become more urgent and confused, until random notes are being struck and a final burst signals the ultimate death of the character in question. Beautiful. Joshua Homme is a genius.
The line "I want you to notice when I'm not around" sells it for me. This is a suicide note that says "I love you too much to live without you. I would rather die."
I think its about a guy whos madly in love with a girl. Imagine high school age. Shes one of the popular kids and hes not. He loves her so much he gets depressed and cuts himself.
I think the "solid gold" reference is saying she is emotionally hard and as unbreakable as solid gold. He'll never be able to break through to her and get her to love him, so he thinks fuck it, and begins to hate her instead of loving her (see you in hell). I dont think he kills himself himself or her. i could be wrong tho.
What a creepy yet cool song. It's obviously a story of someone "in love" and its not returned. the guy ends up committing suicide. creepy...
agree with harakiri. i think that those are extremely effective since josh homme has that mournful voice that can express that pain he wants to show in that song.
How does this song sound like Kyuss at ALL?! Are you kidding me? Have you listened to any of Kyuss? This barely sounds anything like Kyuss.
By the way, guys, you love to over-analyze the lyrics. You love to go all English professor, flaunt the fact that you can read and infer a couple lines in a song, yet you don't know that non-returned means unrequited.
I could be really wrong, but when it says ur solid gold, I think it's refering to the book the outsiders where at the end the character jhonny's last words are "stay golden" yeah, I think he killed himself
