I agree with many of the comments, but the way I see it, the song ends with death. The guitar parts are arranged so that the lead riffs spiral into disarray... SO... the way I see it, after he cuts his wrists, the guitars symbolize his consciousness and/or failing strength, so as he slowly dies they become more urgent and confused, until random notes are being struck and a final burst signals the ultimate death of the character in question.
