You Would Know Lyrics

Me just happy robot
Live on hill of beans
You and I cut from same cloth
Rippin' at the seams
Cut, snip, cut

Don't forget to remember
The devil's got pills in his eyes
Look, laugh, but don't touch
Cut you down to size
Cut, up, cut (shut up)
Cut, up, cut

You would know

My girl's all out of focus
I ain't no big surprise
Daddy got his gun loaded
Got cross hairs in his eyes
Shot up, oh
Shot up, oh

You would know

You would know
You would know
You would know
You would know
You would know
You would know
You would know
You would know
You would know
You would know
You would know
You would know
You would know
You would know

I think the song is about the difference between the people that do drugs and those that don't do them and are just pathologically afraid of them. That kind of person is "just a happy robot", living on a hill of beans, thinking that life is in someway perfect without drugs. It's also about how these people aren't really all that different from what they despise.

"Don't forget to remember The devil's got pills in his eyes Look, laugh, but don't touch " Just goes to show the way people are just afraid of drugs and will do anything to avoid them.

"Cut you down to size " and the following two lyrics, I think, go out to express the way people's prejudice will simply make them try to take you down to their own level of understanding.

"My girl's all out of focus " "Daddy got his gun loaded " Are both ways of expressing the state of being high.

And last, but not least, the chorus "You would know" is in fact a mockery of people who believe they know and understand the problem, but are generally just afraid to look at it with an open mind and treat it as if they were looking into the devil's eyes.

Maybe I think to much but that's what I think.

wow. I've had a hard time with this song, but that is a comforting interpretation. Thanks a lot for the post! What made you think that?

ya that makes sense its lame that every song has this drug reference but on the other side if you are telling a story or analyzing the song its like either way you want to look at it

hehe, i notice that when no one knows what the hell those lyrics mean, everybody just says it's about drugs

@vaseline I think this is a beauty of a good lyrics, everyone can read/hear and understand it differently. I was shocked few times in my life finding out what i understood from the song and what author meant.

I think this song is about 2 people who are from the same place and being ripped apart by society it is kind of like a guidline, saying not to get too near, his girl who he says it all out of focus it aint no big surprise kind of shows that society has kind of already gotten to her and he has his gun loaded trying to chill her out

Not every song is about drugs...

This song (in my opinion) is about a relationship, which is dissolving.

"you would know" is kind of a spiteful malicious post-relationship remark

At the beginning he's a happy robot (this may be a reference to Josh's "robot rock" style), happy in the relationship. They're similar, or cut from the same cloth, but their relationship is too explosive/not working, or ripping at the seams.

The rest of it seems to be just the relationship falling apart and he puts an end to it; cutting (the cloth), crosshairs in the eyes.

In this part, my opinion is that she out of focus because she is drunk, messes with your vision. And if you've heard smells like teen spirit, you have. Kurt says, bring your guns. Queens might be referring to a syringe of heroin, and he has cross hairs in his eyes means his pupils are dilated.

this sort of reminds me of the stooge's i wanna be your dog.

every single song ever made COULD be about drugs in one way or another (mostly). yeah i agree with vaseline, too. im not saying its not about drugs though.

well, heroin pins your pupils, it doesnt dilate them, so that theory doesnt make much sense but after reading minciue's idea, im a bit of a fan of that meaning for the song (even if drugs are everyones meaning for every song)

sry meant to say pins. They get smaller. I also think the, my girls all out of focus is refering to some drug, but the reason for crosshairs in his eyes, is that is sound good, and relates to the gun idea. For me the gun loaded, and the song sounding like it is drug related, clicks and reminds me of syringe.

Oh, forgot minciu's theory does make a lot of sense i'm just trying to figure out that one part. And yeah alot of songs are about drugs.
