Time After Time

It's clear Ozzy is talking about when he had a cocain addiction. ~Time after time, line after line~ This is why he is so baked. Ozzy quote: "HibalabasheauhbafraFUCKblabasheSHITaberabla" ~I can hear them wispering, shadows on the wall~ Here he is describing a trip. ~Day after day i watched love fade away~ Here he is describing how everyday he was going further down the addiction tube, losing interest in the band, his life, and other things he cared about. In all reality I am just making up a bunch of BS so take it how you want. Good day to you my friends.

It seems to me it's about someone breaking up with him, but him still loving them, "you broke mine" referring to his heart, and various other things that are obvious references to relationships and his longing.

I think its more of a combination of the two. Him losing love because of the addiction.

WhoIsBatman is right...it's a combination of love lost and saying goodbye to coke, but contrary to popular belief, the "shadows on the wall" is not a reference to a coke trip but a refence of how the shadows are a parallel life that could have been if he hadn't had so many drug problems.

It's too bad everyone automatically thinks that all of Ozzy's song are about drugs or a trip because he does make some poetic and meaningful lyrics.

Keybo7 is totally right. When people think about Ozzy they think about "a fried brained cocaine addict." But the truth is, when you get past the stutters you find a very intelligent man. This is shown clearly through his lyrics. The thing is, everyone makes mistakes. Ozzy's mistake was using drugs. That does not make make Ozzy a bad person.

However, back to the song.

"Time after time I guess that love is blind I couldn't read your mind" When I think of this I think of someone who had a problem (in Ozzy's case this could possibly be drugs). It was obvious that he was hurting the person that he loved but he just couldn't see it, though he should have.

"I can hear them whispering Shadows in the rain Thinking how it might have been" Now he is alone. He is still in love with her and he is thinking how things could have been if only he hadn't made the mistakes he had made. Now his mind is mocking him because he messed up.

"Time after time Line after line you broke mine" As Insanity said, he's refering to his heart being broken.

"Day after day I watched love fade away I wanted love to stay" He sits and thinks about the moment when he watched his love leave him behind. He wishes she could have stayed with him.

"Day after day The games we play The foolish things we say The pain won't go away Day after day" He seems to be referring to the way she still loves him but lies and says she doesn't to punish him and how it continues to cause pain.

How do you know when Ozzy wrote this song. Just because the album was released while he was married doesn't mean that was when it was wrote. Ozzy has been through a divorce. Myave he wrote it before he got married to Sharon.

this is a wonderful ballad by ozzy. its one of my favorite songs by him also. i think its about him losing the love of his life to a cocaine addiction
