More Than Us

Oh my god....I can't believe that no one has commented on this song!! People! This is an amazing song! You -must- listen to it!

It's so difficult for me to pick a favorite Travis song because they are all awesome, but I think this is probably their greatest slower song...I dunno, I just adore this song, it's bittersweet.

sounds very beatlesey...makes me smile. Travis always makes me smile.

I truly love this song. I love to listen to it and "And everybody wants a hand But I'm too busy holding up the world To carry on " in particular gives quite the mental image. This is really one of my favorite songs - however it saddens me to say I really am not quite sure what it is really about. I'd love if someone could explain it to me.

this song, wow, it's just one of the most beautiful things i've heard. it completely describes how i feel at times

despite of being so fuckin' unrated, both the band and the song are amazing.

I THINK it could be about when a relationship has gone on for so long that you can't really remember why you got together. I think it's about the confusion of how you feel and where the relationship is headed.

"And everybody calls it love But I'm not really sure if this is love At all Not anymore" I think it's about a relationship that's lasted so long that the initial passion is gone, and he's asking what's left. Does love always have to be passionate, driven? Or when the passion and excitement has gone, can love remain?

.....but thats just a guess!

I just heard this song for the first time in years...completely forgot how great it was...

And I have a totally different take on it...I always thought it was loosely based on Atlas Shrugged imagery...or could fit with that book pretty well...

I think the "love" in the verses is less romantic and more brotherly...it's about a guy who finds himself in a family, or community, or world where he's surrounded by ppl who depend on him, but he's getting sick of lending a hand...especially since he already feels like he's "holding up the world"...

The "fly away" part seems to express his need to leave, but he wants an assurance he'll still be able to keep in contact with the people he values in his current situation...(it would also fit nicely with the Atlas Shrugged elements of the Hidden Valley and Dagny's plane crash, but maybe I'm just being a little too hopeful there).

The it in the song refers to love. And the song says it i.e. love is more than everyone, him, her and them. The singer also seems to suggest that he no longer has any doubt that he is in love when he says "But I'm not really sure if it's love At all Not anymore" He is just like any other common person in love. He wants to be careful, but sometimes he just wants to surrender to the feeling and fly away, but alas he ends with a doubt "Would you stay". Just like me :-/

Somewhat sadly I think I know what this song means. Two people fall in love, but are involved with others and cannot break their commitments to be together. They realize their love is "more than us" so they have to part. They wish they could fly away....and dream.
