Good Day To Die Lyrics

Where is your mother
Where is your father
Two little children
Locked in the cupboard
Into the wide world
High on the highwire
What would you give to fly away
Away, away, away, away

Found on:

Good Feeling

Girl with the flower
Boy with the hammer
Lost in a forest
On another planet
Find me the exit
Find them the way home
Find all the love they took away
Away, away, away, away

Cos your head is a brick wall
And your heart is a football
And your eyes broken windows
When you cry
It's a good day to die

[Guitar bits then, with a considerably more angst-ridden voice]

And your head is a brick wall
And your heart is a football
And your eyes broken windows
When you cry
It's a good day
Cos your head is a brick wall
And your heart is a football
And your eyes
It's a good day to die
To die
To die
To die

I love this song...especially the bit where he goes crazy at the end. Good Feeling is such an excellent album all around.

I have no idea what this song is about. I don't care.

It's my favorite song on Good Feeling. I love the anger in his voice. He's just screaming this song, and it rocks.

This is my favourite song on Good Feeling as well. It's so evident to me how much each Travis album is different from the last. An example of this is how Good Feeling is upbeat while The Man Who is much more mellow. My point is, yes the albums are all different but they're all the same too in a way that Travis fans love them all. We can all find things we love no matter which album the song comes from and what mood it is. Travis is great!

i think this song is about repression. the first album shows that travis are more than just a band who write ballads n soft tunes. i love this album n the other 2

I think this song is about a person (most likely a woman...although could be a man, I'm not sure) who's been abused emotionally, physically and worse for their entire life and are now doing the same thing themselves and feel terrible for it. For example...

'Where is your mother, where is your father?' (abusive parents who abandoned them eventually?) 'Two little children, locked in the cupboard' (the person's own children, who are now being abused but hidden? Or this could a be a reference to their siblings...) 'Into the wide world, high on the high wire' (the person tried to make a normal life for themselves, but ended up getting even worse. 'High wire' could also be a reference to 'high risk' prostitution...I'm not sure) 'What would you give to fly away...' (the person would give anything to get out, duh)

'Girl with the flower, boy with the hammer Lost in a forest, on another planet' (bad drug trip used to try and numb the pain, probably) 'Find me the exit, find me the way home Find all the love they took away...' (same as last line of first verse)

'Cause your head is a brick wall and your heart is a football And your eyes open windows when you cry It's a good day to die' (no matter what the person does, their situation keep getting worse, and all they want to do in the end is die. Sooo sad... :,,()
