Modern Man Lyrics
i've got nothing to say
i've got nothing to do
all of my neurons are functioning smoothly
yet still i'm a cyborg just like you
i am one big myoma that thinks
my planet supports only me
i've got this one big problem
will i live forever?
i've got just a short time to see
modern man
evolutionary betrayer
modern man
ecosystem destroyer
modern man
destroy yourself in shame
modern man
pathetic example of earth's organic heritage
when i look back and think
when i ponder and ask myself why
i see my ancestor spend with careless abandon
assuming eternal supply
modern man
evolutionary betrayer
modern man
ecosystem destroyer
modern man
destroy yourself in shame
modern man
pathetic example of earth's organic heritage
just a sample of carbon-based wastage
just a fucking tragic epic of you and i

This song is obvisously about how humankind has ravaged the earth and all its resouces with no avail. We don't think where our natural resources come from or how long it takes to regenerate them we just use them in a wasteful fashion for our own, immediate gain.
People really need to start paying attention to environmentalists a lot more. We are raping mother earth, and that is just not cool.
this song attacks what mankind has evolved to. It's basically saying "We suck"
its the oposite i think. its saying that even tho we evolved to this great form we've found away to make it obsolete (sp?) we could use our selves to sumthin that means shit but instead we take advantage of it.
I have to agree with Mutt on this. This song's saying, in it's own way, that we made a major cockup of what we've been given. I mean, we could be doing so many things for our earth but instead we'll end up abusing it until we've drained every last drop of life on it. And how our ancestors like Columbus and Ponce de Leon and Disney wasted our land and resources.
At least some people out there have some sort of sense concerning our environment.

this song is about the de-evolution of mankind. we use our knowledge to kill things and better our own exsistance rather than see the big picture.
Actually this sounds a lot like it was inspired by author Daniel Quinn. Check out The Story of B and/or Ishmael.
He isn't saying that man has evolved screwed up, just modern man is screwed up. Modern, civilized, man. We're only 10,000 years old, you know.
nice reference to daniel quinn, pheurton. i listened to modern man just the other day for the first time after reading ishmael and immediately made the connection. there are some amazing parallels between these lyrics and the book...
Hey, why give a shit about what's going to happen to mankind later on when we're going to be dead by time everything gets fucked anyway? Let's let our kids deal with it! Yeah, fuck planet earth, I want my new Hummer. Fucking treehuggers......
"What have they done to the earth? What have they done to our fair sister? Ravaged and plundered, And ripped her and bit her. Stuck her with knives In the side of the dawn. And tied her with fences And dragged her down."
yeah i love The Doors and Bad Religion...
