A Witch's Web Lyrics
Told a lie about yourself
It felt so good to decieve
You pulled the wool over everyone
Told them whatever they'd believe
You missed the train and now you're gone
To join the faceless everyone
You're a name on a phone list I've crossed off
I've pushed you back to square one
And if I fall then I'll stand back up
Because learning how to run is half the fun
Somehow I know that there must be something better
No one's gonna have power over me
If there's a sign above the door (over you)
That says you have to hang your coat
But you're wanting me to pay the doorman with my soul
I think that I'll be moving on
Your witch's web is hanging over my sleep
My one half lies awake, the other in a dream
Somehow I know that there must be something better
No one's gonna have power over me.
It felt so good to decieve
You pulled the wool over everyone
Told them whatever they'd believe
To join the faceless everyone
You're a name on a phone list I've crossed off
I've pushed you back to square one
Because learning how to run is half the fun
Somehow I know that there must be something better
No one's gonna have power over me
That says you have to hang your coat
But you're wanting me to pay the doorman with my soul
I think that I'll be moving on
My one half lies awake, the other in a dream
Somehow I know that there must be something better
No one's gonna have power over me.

wow no ones written anything for this...well this is a well written song about this chick who he was close to but then he realiized that she weaved her web of lies around everyone, probably to protect herself...i have no idea if thats right but the song just sounds like me a year ago and i wish i hadnt pushed this guy away...i know everytells their sob stories baout how these lyrics relate to them adn i do think it gets kind of annyoing but it really sounds like me
actually, this b-side is taken off a compilation, The Peek-A-Boo Book Of Spells...
"The Peek-A-Boo Book of Spells is a compilation of Texas artists, documenting the underground music scene of Austin and Houston circa 1999 - 2000. All the bands involved contribute songs having something to do with magic, spells, witchcraft, etc., however they chose to interpret it. This record has nothing to do with Halloween, nor is it a tribute to the Wiccan community. Rather, the record was intended as an innocuous mainstream gateway into the dark practice of Satan worship, much like Harry Potter." ~insound.com
this is definitely one of my favorite songs they have ever done. beautiful. foreshadows of what was to come on the ep after source tags
ahhh i love conrads singing in this song. it always manages to melt my heart. lol. rock on trail of dead.
good song
it's gonna be on their new one now, i guess...
this is simply one of the most beautiful songs i have heard. didn't realize hilary hahn played violin on this one. i like listening to the older version and comparing them, this version from so divided is so nuanced and bittersweet.
these lyrics are a bit ambiguous to me. someone was disingenuous to him, perhaps hid something they didn't like about themselves but couldn't change, to appeal to him. and he's shut them out having taken advantage of or hurt him. he's got a bit of pride and some standards he lives his life by and isn't going to bend on this one, so idealistic and hopeful he moves on.
i think this song is applicable in a lot of contexts, not simply specifically the storyline i've just speculated at. a soundtrack to sticking to your ideals and refusing to sell yourself short, as difficult as that may sometimes be.
