Come on Ooh, yeah
Never be the same again

I call you up whenever things go wrong
You're always there You are my shoulder to cry on
I can't believe it took me quite so long
To take the forbidden step
Is this something that I might regret?

(Come on, come on)
Nothing ventured nothing gained
(You are the one)
A lonely heart that can't be tamed
(Come on, come on)
I'm hoping that you feel the same
This is something that I can't forget

I thought that we would just be friends
Things will never be the same again
It's just the beginning it's not the end
Things will never be the same again
It's not a secret anymore
Now we've opened up the door
Starting tonight and from now on
We'll never, never be the same again
Never be the same again

Now I know that we were close before
I'm glad I realised I need you so much more
And I don't care what everyone will say
It's about you and me
And we'll never be the same again

I thought that we would just be friends (oh yeah)
Things will never be the same again (never be the same again)
It's just the beginning it's not the end (we've only just begun)
Things will never be the same again
It's not a secret anymore
Now we've opened up the door (opened up the door)
Starting tonight and from now on
We'll never, never be the same again
Never be the same again

Nite and day
Black beach sand to red clay
The US to UK, NYC to LA
From sidewalks to highways
See it'll never be the same again
What I'm sayin'
My mind frame never changed 'til you came rearranged

But sometimes it seems completely forbidden
To discover those feelings that we kept so well hidden
Where there's no competition
And you render my condition
Though improbable it's not impossible
For a love that could be unstoppable

But wait
A fine line's between fate and destiny
Do you believe in the things that were just meant to be?
When you tell me the stories of your quest for me
Picturesque is the picture you paint effortlessly

And as our energies mix and begin to multiply
Everyday situations, they start to simplify
So things will never be the same between you and I
We intertwined our life forces and now we're unified

I thought that we would just be friends
Things will never be the same again
It's just the beginning it's not the end
Things will never be the same again
It's not a secret anymore
Now we've opened up the door
Starting tonight and from now on
We'll never, never be the same again

(Come on, come on)
Things will never be the same again
(You are the one)
Never be the same again
It's not a secret anymore
We'll never be the same again
It's not a secret anymore
We'll never be the same again
Never be the same again
Never be the same again
Never be the same again
Never be the same again

this song reminds me of my situation with my friend, we've taken steps into something we shudnt have done sorta, me n him, well i always liked him ya know thought he was cute etc. etc. he was always over friendly, flirtacious ya kno the type but he was like it with everyone, then we got drunk and he kissed me, like proper... we did other stuff but not like sex or ne thing which was fine by me, his sister told me he really liked me but after that it ended in tears, we told each other we didnt like each other n we ended up growin apart but the other day it was my bday and some stuff happened again n now we're closer and now we've taken the first steps its like it will never be the same again, ya know wot i mean? i can just relate to the words

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
