Nobody knows it but you've got a secret smile
And you use it only for me
Nobody knows it but you've got a secret smile
And you use it only for me
So use it and prove it
Remove this whirling sadness
I'm losing I'm bluesing
But you can't save me from madness

Nobody knows it but you've got a secret smile
And you use it only for me
Nobody knows it but you've got a secret smile
And you use it only for me

So save me I'm waiting
I'm needing, hear me pleading
And soothe me, improve me
I'm grieving, I'm barely believing it now, now

When you are flying around and around the world
And I'm lying a lonely
I know there's something sacred and free reserved
And received by me only

Ok - interesting comments but this song is surely about someone who has an obsession with another person who is unobtainable (married, famous...??) It is a kind of sad and deluded world in which the singer lives - he interprets any smile as just meant for him and he is reading something more into it than there should be. Melancholic - beautiful.........

I've always felt like this song was about the singer's relationship with someone famous, like an actor or a model. I'm not sure if he ever dated anyone of that nature (especially while writing material for their breakthrough album), but it sure seems like he has a girlfriend who smiles for a lot of other people (for a movie or a photo shoot) but never really means it. He's the only one who gets to see her genuinely smile.

This is obviously about womanly bits. just imagine the "secret smile" of a happy vaj. and there you go. "only for me" something sacred and reserved.

listen to this guy's chemistry album...it's loaded with subliminal sex shit. this guy is realllllly talented and reallllllly horny i guess, cuz this song is NO DOUBT about oral sex. if u don't believe me, just read these lyrics and realize, this guy seriously likes talking about sex in other albums.

This is a really sexy song... his voice is mesmerizing and sincere.. but it sounds innocent and naughty at the same time.

I had never thought about it being about oral sex.. I guess it fits in, but I think it has more to do with a secret, intimate bond between two people. And if that bond includes oral sex, then that's fine with me.

I think people are missing a big part of this song. Its not sexual or a love song as much as it is a one way connection. The singer of this song sees the girl from afar,

"Remove this whirling sadness I'm losing, I'm bluesingess"

The song is mellow and sad, when he says Nobody knows it nobody applies to the person smiling as well. From afar it is like that persons smile represents hope or something that could make him happy. Least thats how i always saw it, The secret is the fun part about it, an unknown possibility between two people.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
