"Secret Smile" as written by and Dan Wilson....
Nobody knows it but you've got a secret smile
And you use it only for me
Nobody knows it but you've got a secret smile
And you use it only for me
So use it and prove it
Remove this whirling sadness
I'm losing I'm bluesing
But you can't save me from madness

Nobody knows it but you've got a secret smile
And you use it only for me
Nobody knows it but you've got a secret smile
And you use it only for me

So save me I'm waiting
I'm needing, hear me pleading
And soothe me, improve me
I'm grieving, I'm barely believing it now, now

When you are flying around and around the world
And I'm lying a lonely
I know there's something sacred and free reserved
And received by me only

General CommentOk - interesting comments but this song is surely about someone who has an obsession with another person who is unobtainable (married, famous...??) It is a kind of sad and deluded world in which the singer lives - he interprets any smile as just meant for him and he is reading something more into it than there should be. Melancholic - beautiful.........

General CommentI've always felt like this song was about the singer's relationship with someone famous, like an actor or a model. I'm not sure if he ever dated anyone of that nature (especially while writing material for their breakthrough album), but it sure seems like he has a girlfriend who smiles for a lot of other people (for a movie or a photo shoot) but never really means it. He's the only one who gets to see her genuinely smile.

General CommentThis is obviously about womanly bits. just imagine the "secret smile" of a happy vaj. and there you go. "only for me" something sacred and reserved.

General CommentI think people are missing a big part of this song. Its not sexual or a love song as much as it is a one way connection. The singer of this song sees the girl from afar,

    "Remove this whirling sadness
    I'm losing, I'm bluesingess"

The song is mellow and sad, when he says Nobody knows it nobody applies to the person smiling as well. From afar it is like that persons smile represents hope or something that could make him happy. Least thats how i always saw it, The secret is the fun part about it, an unknown possibility between two people.

General CommentThats the dumbest thing i've ever heard! this song is about a special bond you have with someone you care about. And the way you just connect with them and you have things that only the two of you understand.I love this song, it's so special

General Commentthis song to me is about that one special friend you have that you can go to no matter how terrible you feel and they will put a smile on your face and no matter what may have been wrong when you went to them they will make you forget about it.
