i think the song's pretty clear, the guy in the lyrics just got dumped because he's immature or what not and wont ever recover from the relationship lol... but that's just my thoughts on it...

i don't think his not shaving is about him not caring anymore as much as it is about he no longer performs cunnilingus. in fact, i think this is pretty obvious when you listen to the live in a dive version which he introduces with, "this goes out to all the people that just quit shaving...i think you know what i'm talking about"
