Tell Me So Lyrics

Take out a piece of paper
Put your name up in the corner
Take out a piece of paper
Write everything down then you can read it
Back to me and maybe you
Could know the same thing about me
Could know the same thing about me

If you are gonna look at me I am gonna get a prize
If you are gonna look at me I am gonna get a prize
If you are gonna look at me I am gonna get a prize

Oh tell me so I wanna know
Oh tell me so I wanna know

And don't stall
Tell me now and don't stall
Tell me now oh shower stall
And I fell down down down down down

If you are gonna look at me I am gonna get a prize
If you are gonna look at me I am gonna get a prize
If you are gonna look at me I am gonna get a prize

Oh tell me so

i believe the correct lyrics in the end of the last stanza are:

Then you can read it back to me And maybe you can hurt me Then you can read it back to me And maybe you could know something about me

For the first part of this song I have in my mind the image of this therapist or something, who is just writing their impressions of what she says (you could read it back to me, maybe you could hurt me). Or just someone analysing you- how you feel, what you think, and using it against you to hurt you (i.e. you're fucked up, or you're like this because of something traumatic that happened to you, etc.). Someone thinking they know you, because they know a few personal things, or judging you when they don't even know you, which can be hurtful. Maybe even believing unsubstantiated rumors about you.

I think it's about looking for validation through (possibly male) approval. "If you are gonna look at me I am gonna get a prize" Either that or just wanting compensation for having guys looking at you with the "male gaze".

Perhaps it is about the male voyeurism females feel subjected to- such as a shower stall or bathroom that you can see into? Which is a lot of movies, tv shows, etc., that makes you feel dirty.

With the different parts of the song put together, I get the feeling it's about being stalked- someone writing about you, watching you, etc., perhaps someone having a superficial crush on you from afar and stalking you in a creepy way.
