This song is about unconditional love for your best friend. She doesnt care about how people think she is a slut, because she thinks that rebel girl is the coolest person in the whole world.
@moishi Yeah right, it could be so. I wrote the lyrics, but it is so many years ago that it can be hard to remember the meaning and the details, but I have it more clearly now. I wrote the lyric for the song "Rebel Girl" back in 1990/91, when I was a student at Evergreen State College, met the Bikini Kill girls there. It was written especially to Kathleen, I think, but had aquaintances with both Toby and Kathleen, so it could be both.

@vadge The question is if Kathleen or Toby had a tricycle or not? That would or could answer the question. If not, it`s probably another word for a clothing, like "tricot", became "trike", a slang for that, maybe.

yes I agree it is an amazing song. This was the first song I heard from them, and then I was hooked on Kathleen Hanna's beautiful way of thinking. Le Tigre is amazing as well!!! Women can kick ass!!

The lyric was probably written by me back in 1990/91, when I was a student at Evergreen State College, at Olympia, in Washington/USA. Met there the Bikini Kill girls, and especially Kathleen Hannah, and Tobi Vail. Got to know Kathleen and Tobi better, and had some relationship play with both of them. "Rebel Girl" was dedicated especially to one of them. Can't remember which of them, contemporary, hehe. Valued both equally, but possibly in different ways. Who I am?
