Could've sworn I heard you say amen this morning, showing some kind of sign
That you believe
Did it fall from your tongue without warning or just another trick to fall from
Your sleeve
Did I hear you say that you believe in angels? I guess I bring the devil out in
You
But we can both remove our halos 'cause even an angel needs love too

The woman in you is the worry, the worry in me
The woman in you is the worry, the worry in me

Some things never change; Some things never stay the same
But you're so innocent, I'll take all the blame
How I hate to remember for that means the day is past
Sometimes I wonder if I know her or if I really need to ask

The woman in you is the worry, the worry in me
The woman in you is the worry, the worry in me
The woman in you is the worry, the worry in me
Woman...

Half-man walks with no shadow of life he utters his distaste
No apology is expected
Love carved sorry in his face
Love carved sorry in his face

The woman in you is the worry, the worry in me
The woman in you is the worry, the worry in me
The woman in you, in you, is the worry in me
Woman...

I came back home with head swimming with issues about a girl and the tune to this song miraculously popped in my head. I brought my attention to the song and listened to the lyrics for the first time with intention and with great clarity. It's amazing what a personal experience can do to a song for you.

He is not sure whether this girl is the sweet angel she appears to be. The girl is not a one night stand, it is a girl he feels deeply for and wants her to be true to him. But he feels that she is promiscuous. Is she really a sweetheart? Or does she just know how to act sweet and play on her innocent looks. The woman in you refers to the fact that woman want to be romanced, and that woman fantize about a perfect man who will be a 'man' for her. She can't help to do it, its in her nature to be attracted to certain things and to have sex with someone who switches on all the right emotional responses for her. And THAT is the worry he has for this woman. "You're so innocent I'll take the blame" Here he is being facecetious. Saying that its his fault if she is with other men because he is not always the perfect man m that she is atracted to and excited by. He says he'll take the blame because he believes that its only in a womans nature to act how she does. When he says "Sometimes I wonder if I know her or if I really need to ask" *I believe he is saying that sometimes he wonders "would this girl really cheat on me?" and then sometimes he wonders "ofcourse she would you can't hold this woman back, there's no question about it.

I don't have much of an opinion on the last verse. I guess because nothing from itreally connects with the experience that I am having but I would love to hear a good interperetation of it.

Great song, really reminds me of Led Zeppelin when the groove kicks anyone. Anyone else feel that?

This song helped me to finally ask my girlfriend out. I am not outgoing at all so I've never had a girlfriend before. My mom divorced my dad when I was in 6th grade causing me to not be able to create relationships with females. Unlike other girls in my school, church, etc. she was the only one that I never stopped liking. The song means (at least to me) that what really worried me about this girl is the fact that she is a woman. I was so afraid of being rejected again, that it took me forever to ask her out. All is well now with us, I'm deeply in love and she is as well. I don't plan on letting her go. I have this song to thank for her.

i think that the "i" character, ben or whoever ben's writing as, doesn't know how to feel about this girl. like she seems all innocent, and he can't decide if the bad experiences he's had with her are the result of his own corruption or if she really is duplicitous. the element of this song i always identify with most is the chorus, because it just reminds me of those relationships where all you do is worry about whats going to go wrong next. i love this song.

this is my favorite ben harper song ever, i love how it starts out so slow and then he just starts singing. I love ben harper cuz he has an amazing voice but doesn't feel the need to make it sound pretty, he sings from his soul and i can feel it through his music

Only six comments!? shocking! This is a great song. It displays the lyrical talent as well as musical talent that Ben Harper possesses. As if any guy hasn't felt this way about a girl. But how many composers can actually convey the feeling successfully? not many

I wrote that comment only two months ago, and now I actually know what this song is about lol. Funny how I've known this song for a few years, and only now after personal experience do I understand it. Ben in this song is saying how he's afraid of losing his relationship with this girl, and he finds nothing to blame his fear on except for the fact that shes a woman. He doesn't understand why the girl acts like she does sometimes (for whatever reason it may be) and he can't tell her that shes the one to blame so he'll "take all the blame". And he hates to remember how the relationship used to be because if its a memory, its past, and it will never be like it was ever again. I really like that comment by jaywarrietto, I'm happy for you mate. I'm in a similar situation to what you were in, except I've just been told that this girl who my heart has been set on for ages doesn't like me in the way that I like her...its pretty crushing, I mean I've been a great friend to her for so long, but I wont wallow here. All I'm saying is that is what this song is to me. I'm afraid that I'm going to lose this girl to some guy who might be better looking or more outgoing. The woman in her is what is worrying me heh.

(first of all:sorrry for my bad english, i´m german;-) i absolutaly love this song cause it reminds me of a person i just knew for a very short time, got very close and than had to say goodbye. This was his favourite song and in the short time that was given to us we just listened to this song. possibility to interpret: For me it´s about temptation: the woman( for me: the man) in this person means that she can´t resist attraction of the other sex and he is afraid that she could betray (betrayed?"No apology is expected Love carved sorry in his face" ) him.So he, who loves her, suffers because he can´t be sure if she concedes or not. the line "Did it fall from your tongue without warning" means that she leaves him unsatisfield maybe sexual but i think more emotional. Their relationship is very close, but also full of tenseness because if you give in too much u could lose it all. And even she´s an angel(looks like an angel) and is innocent, she makes human mistakes and that´s the reason they have to "remove their halos", she is not a perfect creature (as he believed in he beginning, cause it´s like that when u fall in love) and in the end there will be pain."How I hate to remember for that means the day is past" means that he wishes back those sweet days of innocent believe in their love and her being good but now his ability to trust (in women) is wasted and gone because of her- but he still loves her and just can´t get away from her.. Thanx for listening;-)

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
