I came back home with head swimming with issues about a girl and the tune to this song miraculously popped in my head. I brought my attention to the song and listened to the lyrics for the first time with intention and with great clarity. It's amazing what a personal experience can do to a song for you.
He is not sure whether this girl is the sweet angel she appears to be. The girl is not a one night stand, it is a girl he feels deeply for and wants her to be true to him. But he feels that she is promiscuous. Is she really a sweetheart? Or does she just know how to act sweet and play on her innocent looks.
The woman in you refers to the fact that woman want to be romanced, and that woman fantize about a perfect man who will be a 'man' for her. She can't help to do it, its in her nature to be attracted to certain things and to have sex with someone who switches on all the right emotional responses for her. And THAT is the worry he has for this woman. "You're so innocent I'll take the blame" Here he is being facecetious. Saying that its his fault if she is with other men because he is not always the perfect man m that she is atracted to and excited by. He says he'll take the blame because he believes that its only in a womans nature to act how she does. When he says "Sometimes I wonder if I know her or if I really need to ask" *I believe he is saying that sometimes he wonders "would this girl really cheat on me?" and then sometimes he wonders "ofcourse she would you can't hold this woman back, there's no question about it.
I don't have much of an opinion on the last verse. I guess because nothing from itreally connects with the experience that I am having but I would love to hear a good interperetation of it.
