Turn My Way Lyrics
Take my hand
And don't let go
Trust this man
And let it flow
Don't take me down
Cause I'm not done
Don't steal my crown
Before it's won
The wide expanse
The wheel of chance
Will turn my way
The sky will not be grey
I don't want to be like other people are
Don't want to own a key, don't want to wash my car
Don't want to have to work like other people do
I want it to be free, I want it to be true
Take my hand
And don't let go
Trust this man
And let it flow
I drank in every bar in town
I filled my cup when I was down
I saw the things I wanted to see
Became the man I wanted to be
But then somehow I lost my way
I've got to get back there today
I don't want to be like other people are
Don't want to own a key, don't want to wash my car
Don't want to have to work like other people do
I want it to be free, I want it to be true
I don't want to be like other people are
Don't want to own a key, don't want to wash my car
Don't want to have to work like other people do
I want it to be free, I want it to be true
I don't want to be like other people are
Don't want to own a key, don't want to wash my car
Don't want to have to work like other people do
I want it to be free, I want it to be true
I don't want to be like other people are
Don't want to own a key, don't want to wash my car
I lie awake at night, or wait until it's light
I want it to be free, I thought that I was right
Thought that I was right
Thought that I was right
Thought that I was right
Thought that I was right
Thought that I was right
Thought that I was right
And don't let go
Trust this man
And let it flow
Cause I'm not done
Don't steal my crown
Before it's won
The wide expanse
The wheel of chance
Will turn my way
The sky will not be grey
Don't want to own a key, don't want to wash my car
Don't want to have to work like other people do
I want it to be free, I want it to be true
And don't let go
Trust this man
And let it flow

I've got to get back there today
Don't want to own a key, don't want to wash my car
Don't want to have to work like other people do
I want it to be free, I want it to be true
Don't want to own a key, don't want to wash my car
Don't want to have to work like other people do

Thought that I was right
Thought that I was right
Thought that I was right
Thought that I was right

Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins sings the first words of the songs.
Seems to have to do with rebellion, independance, and self discovery, while concluding with reflection.
In my opinion, a middle aged man is looking back at the choices in his life that ultimately were understandable. He doesn't seem to regret it, but acknowledges that there is a better way.
Not really sure myself though.
yeah its like that, sounds like people wanting to be true and human, dont being different just for money to otehr people, poors are more than richs people, who is better, just for cash..
he sings some choruses too. what is this song about right now i don't care but everytime i listen to it i feel like something is skewed in our reality and that we are being deformed by it aided by our failing memory what we wanted to be what we wanted to do and what are whe now and can we yet do all those tings we dreamed about did we sold out?
I think ejownz6 is pretty much what I think as well. He embarked on an idealistic life shunning money & materialism & the faith that the wheel of chance will turn his way. He may have even 'dragged along' a partner into this with him, 'Trust this man & let it flow' but in the end he has led himself & his partner into perhaps ruin - at least he regrets the choice he made but it is too late. A mid life crisis?
