Seven Screaming Diz-Busters Lyrics

They held their heads with laughs of pain
They learned from men who'd just refrain
From glancing at a mirror's face
Seven screaming diz-busters who lurked by a rose
Had iron for a bloodstream and ice behind their eyes

On each and all those holy nights
Where dusters dust becomes the sale and lucifer, the light

They're long so long this time of year
When stars be crossed by twirling fear
You don't suppose I'd prove surprised
Seven screaming diz-busters should go the route and die
Without the warmth they learn to crave
With hardened smiles and evil signs

On each and all those holy nights
Where dusters dust becomes the sale and lucifer, the light

Bury me near the secret cove so they'll not know the way
Bury me there, behind the rose so they'll not rile my grave
I'll not reveal whose name still loose
Well their laugh of pain...And their harder smiles...
And their rigid arms...And their evil signs...
Longer days and the longer nights
And their longer, and longer still

On each and all those holy nights
Where dusters dust becomes the sale and lucifer, the light

also found this interview with Eric Bloom

soooo......

I've got more questions from the fan club. In the 1973 song "Seven Screaming Dizbusters," what is a dizbuster?

Bloom: (laughs) Well, it has a sexual connotation.

That's OK, I'm a grownup. You can tell me.

Bloom: I think Richard Meltzer and Sandy Pearlman came up with a term, that was sort of like an inside joke to them, and used it in the lyric of that song. To them, the diz was the groove at the top of the penis.

Yeah?

Bloom: And that's what a diz was. So "Seven Screaming Dizbusters" are some pretty bad boys.

So they were fucking so hard, the tip of their penis fell apart.

Bloom: I can't read more into it, and you're probably reading more into it than I can. But that's really what the diz is, in our nomenclature.

From blue Oyster FAQ Former BOC drummer Albert Bouchard has stated that the "diz" refers to the cleft of the penis. Bolle Gregmar further tells us that "duster's dust" (from the song, "Seven Screaming Diz-Busters") refers to sperm. Therefore, a "Diz-Buster" refers to someone (or something) which causes one to ejaculate. Well, you wanted to know . . .

The whole thing sounds like a group of Succubus women / groupies. The women are on the hunt for sperm, and he's even saying bury me in a certain locations so thay don't have sex with him. The fact that he mentions it as a sale makes me think he's afraid of getting groupies pregnant because then he'll owe them financial support of some kind. Mixing supernatural with real assigns them a special kind of evil.

It's a multi-dimensional sentient vacuum.

I will continue to believe this until someone tells me a better idea.

I guess it could be about a spy who is ready to die but the enemy(diz-bussters) wont let him rest. He wants his people to hide his grave where they wont be able to find it." Bury me near the secert cove so they'll not know the way Bury me ther, behind the rose so they'll not rile my grave."

But isn't Lucifer another name for the devil? I dont know where that would come in unless he is jesues and doen't wan to be found my The devil and his bad angles( diz-busters) I the live version which it what i have the go off talking about how they know lucifer and call him "lou" How they dont want to be talken away so maybe its about dying and not going to hell... they might of done bad things but still want to go to heaven

In an interview somewhere, one of the guys in the band explains that a "diz" is invented slang for dick. So "diz-busting" is like busting someone's balls....

These dizbusters have "iron for a bloodstream and ice behind their eyes"- they are ruthless, and implacable. What it means that they hide behind a rose is anyone's guess. But we know that they're harrying the narrator, who is so afraid of them that he wants his grave hidden. Since Lucifer is mentioned, it may be that they are demons or fallen angels who hunt someone until they collect on whatever is owed to the Devil. Given how popular Tolkien was in 60s and 70s, it's not hard to imagine them as Nazgul, or to liken the song's narrator to a personage like Faust.

sub rosa is latin for under the rose. back in the day, the practice of placing a rose above a doorway indicated secret proceedings took place there, hence, sub rosa means secret dealings.

i think the dizbusters are drug-dealing bikers ... they sound like characters (probably members of a motorcycle gang) in the on-going story that BOC seems to be telling in many of their early songs (before the kiss, astronomy, last days of may, etc.) in which many common themes are alluded to and recur, albeit nebulously ... ... *i have heard (mostly weak) arguements that it is a symbolic reference to the 7 seals mentioned in the book of revelation, but the only thing i can see relating is the count of seven

To me the whole explanation about what's represented by a diz is no more than a misdirection about the main intent of the song: worshiping Lucifer. In the 70's Eric Bloom being brought to his knees by the light of Lucifer during this song was the climax (no pun intended) of their live shows. In the same vein, saying Abe Fortas and his ocular TB is what Harvester of Eyes is about is pretty comical.

The whole piece is about sex, built on "in jokes" between the members of the band.

As previously stated a Diz refers to to the cleft of the penis.

There are five members of the band plus the song writers Richard Meltzer and Sandy Pearlman, giving you the seven Diz-Busters to whom the song refers.

Further sexual metaphors for you?

Secret cave is a vagina, a rose refers to an anus, so "bury me there" becomes pretty obvious in it's meaning. "Cast iron for a bloodstream" refers to an erectic penis. "Should go the route and die" refers to the loss of erection upon ejaculation.

As for "Lucifer the light"?????

It's just like singing... "7 one-eyed yogurt slingers"!

Maybe the lyriics to the song should have said ^7 Screaming J-- Busters then huh? Diz Busters could be Groupies after the band I guess?
