Alec Eiffel Lyrics
(little eiffel, little eiffel)
they thought he was real smart alec
(little eiffel, little eiffel)
he thought big they called it a phallic
(little eiffel, little eiffel)
they didn't know he was panoramic
little eiffel stands in the archway
(little eiffel, little eiffel)
keeping low doesn't make no sense
sometimes people can be oh so dense
they didn't want it but he built it anyway
(little eiffel, little eiffel)
little eiffel stands in the archway
(little eiffel, little eiffel)
keeping low don't make sense
keeping low doesn't make no-sense
(little eiffel, little eiffel)
little eiffel stands in the archway
oh alexander i see you beneath
the archway of aerodynamics.
When the Eiffel Tower was built it was meant to be a temporary construction, and many people in Paris thought it was ugly. It appeared to be doomed and preparations were underway to tear it down, but was actually saved by the new invention of radio - there was nothing else in Paris high enough to act as a good radio mast location. Interesting that people have been talking about the design being ahead of its time, and it was also saved by something ahead of its time in the form of radio.
The song seems to suggest that people are petty and backwards looking, and they try to tear down people who try to achieve something great - like the Pixies, perhaps.
Good Aim.
Good Aim.
best pixies song ever
Only the Pixies could write a song about a famous architecht and make it sound good. Damn.
@skiguski Simon and Garfunkel had a song about Frank Lloyd Wright and Stephen Malkmus from Pavement seems to always have been singing about architecture in one way or another.

At the Drive In used to do covers of Pixies
Yes. He's name was Alexandre Gustave Eiffel. A brief biography of him can be seen at http://www.greatbuildings.com/architects/Gustave_Eiffel.html
I've always thought of this song as the story of a new Eiffel ("Little Eiffel"... maybe a descendant of the original architect) who built a space rocket in the form of the Eiffel Tower in order to travel to a new world. I got that idea from the CD cover which features an Eiffel Tower blasting off and the verse that says "Pioneer of aerodynamics".
This song is about me.
its as good as you get married with ludivine sagnier and cheating her with monica bellucci. well, this song may even better than this.
this song sounds like the theme song for a super hero. absolutely awesome.
eiffel represents the penis of a teenager. nothing else. and its the best song of pixies. no doubt.
"I dont think it means that. I think they are talking about a kid and his penis... because they mention phallic. look that word up. it could be about the eiffle tower though? "
To the person who said this, "phallic" means resembling a phallus (penis) SO when he says "He thought big and they called it a phallic" all Francis is saying is that people mocked the Eiffel Tower because it looked phallic.
