The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.
You're so sweet
You're so fine
I want you all and everything just to be mine
'Cause you're my babe
'Cause you're my love
Girl, I'm just a Jeepster for you love
You slide so good
With bones so fair
You've got the universe reclining in your hair
'Cause you're my babe
Yes, you're my love
Girl, I'm just a Jeepster for you love
Just like a car
You're pleasing to behold
I'll call you Jaguar if I may be so bold
'Cause you're my babe
Yes, you're my love
Girl, I'm just a Jeepster for you love
The wild winds blow
Upon your frozen cheeks
The way you flip your hip it always makes me weak
'Cause you're my babe
Yes, you're my love
Girl, I'm just a Jeepster for you love
Your motivation is so sweet
Your vibrations are burning up my feet
'Cause you're my babe
Yes, you're my love
Girl, I'm just a Jeepster for you love
I said, girl I'm just a vampire for your love
And I'm going to suck you
You're so fine
I want you all and everything just to be mine
'Cause you're my babe
'Cause you're my love
Girl, I'm just a Jeepster for you love
You slide so good
With bones so fair
You've got the universe reclining in your hair
'Cause you're my babe
Yes, you're my love
Girl, I'm just a Jeepster for you love
Just like a car
You're pleasing to behold
I'll call you Jaguar if I may be so bold
'Cause you're my babe
Yes, you're my love
Girl, I'm just a Jeepster for you love
The wild winds blow
Upon your frozen cheeks
The way you flip your hip it always makes me weak
'Cause you're my babe
Yes, you're my love
Girl, I'm just a Jeepster for you love
Your motivation is so sweet
Your vibrations are burning up my feet
'Cause you're my babe
Yes, you're my love
Girl, I'm just a Jeepster for you love
I said, girl I'm just a vampire for your love
And I'm going to suck you

This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.

“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it.
“I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
Its a metaphor, a Jeepster is a charming average guy, willing to go anywhere for the object of his affection--i.e. a "jaguar" (hot girl).
@FranknFurter : Precisely. She's got the sleek lines of a Jaguar, and he's nothing more than a dumpy little Jeepster...but he'll do anything for her, 'cause that's all he's got.

Kinda like a glam-rock variation on Cole Porter's "You're the Top." Granted Porter's lyrics are also suffused with an idiosyncratic subtext. Some of them make this particular T.Rex song (by comparison) seem almost tame. But even though it's been a l-o-n-g time since 1934? Most folks still can't figure it what he was on about.
Dude, T-Rex is like the Howlin' Wolf of glam rock. xD
No one knows what a Jeepster is??!! Has anyone thought to Google it?
Bolan always had a thing for vehicles. Cadillacs, Mustangs, Jaguars, Jeepsters, etc. Metal Gurus, one and all. He even died in one!
he humbles himself for her... he calls her a jaguar and him a jeep.
I play guitar in a Hellbilly band.We do a raucous cover of Jeepster with a few slight variations. -Tractor- You're so sweat You're so fine I want you all and everything Just to be mine 'Cause you're my baby 'Cause you're my love Oh girl I'm just a Tractor For you love You slide so good With bones so fair You've got the universe Reclining in your hair Like my Tractor You're pleasing to behold I'll call you Ku-bo-ta If I may be so bold The wild winds blow Upon your frozen cheeks The way you flip your hip It always makes me weak Your motivation Is so sweet Your vibrations Are burning up my feet
Girl I'm just a Tractor For your love Girl I'm just a farmer For your love I'm gonna plow you
Hellbilly? A new one on me, but I love it! 4.5 ltr single cylinder, I hope - start it with a cigarette-butt rather than a 12 gauge cartridge
Anyone know what Jeepster means?
I suspect it refers to Sgt Bilko's Motor Pool - ie a contemporary version of the Light Brigade
@Zeratul A Jeepster was a phaeton (open touring car) created by Willys-Overland to tap the passenger car market
im not sure but its a sweet song i always thought it was a word he made up like so many others. marc bolan was a poetic genious. who agrees?
In response to Zeratul - It's just a part of the Bolanvocabulary. He made the word up and there's no definite description.
Great song.
@SophieSomething A Jeepster was a version of a jeep that they tried to turn into a sports can.
i always thought it meant vampire or something. throughout the song he keeps slurping lol and he says "im gonna suck you"
uhhh does that really deserve an exclamation mark I mean this guy was only in his 20's he also was a hell of a guitarist that didnt get the credit he deserved. But thats besides the point what I mean to say is that putting an exclamation mark after "he even died in one." is just wrong even though it was ironic since he was a huge car fanatic.
